Acer XV252QF for csgo

Post by NoiZ » 10 Dec 2021, 15:31

Hi I'm looking to pick up a new gaming monitor.
Bought the HP omen x25 but got the omen x25f by mistake and have to return it.
I've had the zowie xl2546k and I really liked it. Also had the 2546s before that.
But I'm really looking to purchase the Acer this time but I'm wondering how it's gonna perform if I get say 300+ fps. Building a brand new computer within days and went with I5 11600k and a tuf 3060Ti gpu and 32gb ram.
With my last computer which was worse then my new one pushed pretty easy stable 300+ fps in csgo and that's the only game I really play.
So again how does the Acer perform if i don't push 360+ fps all the time.
Will I get tearing and so on. Beacuse then I'm thinking on getting the zowie xl2546k instead.
But prefer to try an ips this time.

I highly doubt you’ll see any tearing with GSYNC off. One of the games I play a ton of, Battlefront 2, is locked at 200 FPS. I still notice no tearing.

Ok great I've read almost every comment on this forum regarding this monitor.
It seems like it's a good monitor and also like everything else it's a subjective personal view what one likes and dislikes.
I'm mostly used to 2546k and 2546s and never tried an ips before so it's gonna be fun to try it out.
If I don't like I'll go back to the zowie again.
The only fault on the 2546k for my use that's it's perfect for gaming which I'm gonna use it for almost 99% of the time. Don't use my computer for anything else.
Its that's I've noticed some tearing under 240hz which can happen from time to time.
I'm pretty sure this Acer will do just fine not aspiring to be the best or have the best.

Yeah, the 150 Hz increase definitely helps with tearing. The Acer will certainly have less input lag and a faster scan-out time than your Zowie. As for pixel response times, you'll have to wait for more scientific reviews like the one coming from RTINGs. Acer 390 Hz could be beaten by HP OMEN X 25 or LC C1 (obviously) in this regard. But pixel response time isn't everything. Someone on the Acer 390 Hz will probably react the fastest.

For what it's worth, even though I don't play much CS GO, I play a lot of other games. I play a lot of the Battlefront 2 Hero Showdown mode where you 1v1 people with the saber characters. It's really all about reaction time and click timing. With this monitor (well, also just from playing longer too) I have pretty much become the number one player on PC. I also play a lot of COD. I can't say I've noticed an insane difference in COD, but there definitely is one. I already had hundreds of nukes on Modern Warfare on my 240 Hz monitor. Now, playing some Vanguard, I've gotten about a dozen (but I haven't been playing too much). I'll still probably upgrade to something like a 480 Hz TN if one releases in 2022. I only care about the best of the best, so I'm not trying to shill one thing or another. But what I would love to see is a high-refresh rate OLED or blue-phase LCD.

Ok cool. Yes this is gonna be my startup setup. Waiting for the ddr5 to drop in price and next one will be i9 12700k and a 3080 card for sure.
And I ordered the omen x25 but got the x25f instead. Didn't even try it out just shipping it back.
Read that the x25 is a much better monitor.
Wish I lived in the US. Man the prices are so great over there.
Paid almost 550 euro with shipping for my acer. Not a cheap monitor so hope it holds up.

Report back what your thoughts are on either the Acer or the HP. I'd be interested in hearing them. I think I'll also be upgrading in a bit. I'll probably wait until Q2-Q3 of 2022 and go for either the i9 12900K, Raptor Lake, or Zen 4. That will also give time for DDR5 to mature. I want to see something like DDR5 7800 MT/s CL 30 before I transition to the platform. I'll also go for either RTX 4090 or RX 7900XT. I like to upgrade all at once. But the RTX 3080 and 3090 just didn't seem like substantial upgrades to my 2080 Ti at 1080p. Ampere shines at higher resolutions.

as I told you omen x25 is better than acer on response times, and not a little, but response times are not everything as lizardpeter says, acer is better than omen on everything else.
You need to know if response times are your number 1 priority, if they are Omen is the choice.

Well responstime isn't everything. I'm trying to see the big picture and that's why I'm trying out the Acer first.
To bad the the BB approved monitor isn't sold in Europe. That would have been nice to try out.
Mostly I'm looking for a monitor to game on and not for anything else.
Minimal tearing and hopefully a smooth feeling in games and god response time.
Also that it can keep up on abit faster games later on also.
I've never been one that needs to have the best but why not try to find what suits my needs and wants best.
Not going only what others think beacuse that's differs alot so better to try it out myself for a week or two then decide. Might even up on a TN panel again who knows.
Don't have anything against TN panels just fun to try out ips and see if I like it or not.
