I FIGURED IT OUT! (After 2 years of trial and error)
I FIGURED IT OUT! (After 2 years of trial and error)
Hey everyone,
First time posting here and hopefully I’m able to relieve the input lag, frame spikes, and most importantly the desync that has been spoken about a lot on this as well as the EMI forum.
For some context, I play Valorant and kept experiencing extreme desync scenarios wherein I would die before peeking, or die behind walls.
I’ll get right to the fix: It’s the CPU’s TDP!
I have an HP Omen 15 (CPU:10750H GPU: 1650 Ti 4gb RAM: 16 GB
After using Latencymon and getting results in the 5000+ microsecond range and seeking every possible solution both hardware and software wise, seeing no improvements I had basically given up.
Today when I was tinkering around in Throttlestop to check my temps after repasting my laptop, I decided to change my CPU’s Power Limits (PL1 and PL2).
Initially it was set to PL1:45W and PL2:107W. Curious enough I changed PL1 to 40W and PL2 to 45W. (45W being the rating of my CPU on intel’s specsheet).
Violà, everything gone as if it never existed. Tried a deathmatch and ended up destroying diamonds who’re supposedly two tiers above me in rank. Even all those latencymon spikes? All gone, now they’re in the hundreds and well within range where audio errors are not noticeable. I can’t believe two years of hellish trial and error finally led me to this. Being a long time lurker and extremely grateful for the blur busters community, I had to share my findings!
By default my laptop had turbo boost enabled, so I had used throttlestop to disable turbo and change all cores to run at the same speed aka MHz, but it never happened occurred to change the power limits which were possibly causing throttling and stacking internal errors atop one another.
Even I was a firm believer that this could be an electricity problem and even moved to an apartment where one of my immortal ranked friend stayed but still experienced it IN THE SAME BULDING!! Got fiber internet and what not. Even my bufferbloat was A+!? Like what was possibly not right right?? :,),,,
For everyone out there, I suggest checking your CPU’s power limits on the official websites of the OEM’s and then keeping it lower or around that range.
Please let me know if this fix has helped you and if it did please consider a sub to my channel on YouTube https://youtube.com/channel/UCFAP8rxp9AHs3TyrypIGTcQ .

Have to say sorry man i did set my CPU on 65W (ryzen 5600x) and put some random Amps and its way smoother in game now not too much input lag. I am curios now for how long it will work. So far 4 games in row was not that bad.

I think turning off multicore enhancement "different names on different boards" will force your motherboard to adhere to intel power specs. You don't really have to set the power limits manuallyFearDRAG wrote: ↑29 Dec 2021, 08:34Hey everyone,

Another day another 2 hour lag fix lol
Re: I FIGURED IT OUT! (After 2 years of trial and error)
Valorant is a known game with peekers advantage problem. Everything you described about de-sync is mostly a ping and game problem in one. However, it could be much worse with such thing as input lag.
