PC AMD Ryzen 7 5800 w/ GTX3060 gpu running flight sim such as DCS World
My first thought was to get midgrade 21:9 screen, but someone suggest I get a standard 16:9 that will be the same width but taller for more vertical field of view since typical 16:9s are just as cheap
VA panels are worse for black ghosting, but some say VA panel like Dell Dell S3422DWG is better than some of the IPS panels too? Something at 144mHz refresh rate and 1mS latency... is that better than something 200mHz with 2mS latency... some of the refresh rates arent really attainable values etc etc Dont really know what matters... Also heard you are best off capping FPS to 40/60 on 120Hz screen, 48/72 on 144Hz, 55 on 165hz something about being a whole number multiplier somehow works better?
Guys with well more hardware than me (4K-gsync-display and a 3080 with better processor) see Average framerate82.6 FPS Minimum framerate73.4 FPS Maximum framerate95.0 FPS so will never ACTUALLY see 120+ refresh rates etc get used.
Are there any good budget screens that respond very well to being overclocked making them very good for their price point (I didnt even know that was a thing)
Since have NVIDIA card, should I DEF get a gsync screen or at least gsync compatible software variety or def go with the hardware route because it will allow my GPU to do much better than it otherwise would?
Who what when where why LOL???

Re: Lost where to start looking for monitor/TV
tagging this thread. I'm lost too
I have 3090 and was wondering what monitor would be good match for it. I've now decided not to go with 4k monitors. Instead I'm looking for good pixel density on a smaller monitor. This blog post helped me https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing ... ame-in-4k/ Thus it feels I'm going for 27-inch 1440p one with g sync and at least 144 hz.
I'm coming from 60 hz 24 inch 8 sec delay monitor so that would be a big jump.
I almost locked down to this https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/p ... .HX0EE.S01 but now I found this forum and was wondering what are your thoughts.

Re: Lost where to start looking for monitor/TV
We gonna figure this out K6PS
I did find a listing of all gsync (hardware equipped) on here recommend, and gsync COMPATIBLE monitors, and it seems that consensus was there was only a couple of actual gsync monitors that were recommended and they were all well outside my price range at least. There were a bunch more that were GYSNC compatible (they handle it with software only and I think it only works as long as the frame rate stays above 48fps) that were better choices at the end of the day in the <$1000 stuff
I think that means narrowing down my search to GSYNC compatible not native, and making sure whatever I do I keep frame rates in the 50s to 80s (DCS World flight sim that Ill be playing people dont see the 100+fps consistant even with 5ghz processors and 3080Tis/3090s)

Re: Lost where to start looking for monitor/TV
The majority of official G-SYNC Compatible FreeSync monitors at 144Hz+ support LFC, which multiplies refreshes to keep G-SYNC active down to an effective 1 FPS.GrannySShifting wrote: ↑03 Feb 2022, 12:09I think it only works as long as the frame rate stays above 48fps

Re: Lost where to start looking for monitor/TV
I was just recommended this review site https://tftcentral.co.uk/ and indeed reviews there are epic.
There's this listing for 2022 gaming monitors: https://tftcentral.co.uk/recommendation ... g-monitors
From there the 240Hz and 1440p Samsung Odyssey G7 sticks out https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/samsun ... g7_c27g75t
It has quite harc cuve though that makes me a bit hesitated. Not sure if it's ok to work with. Then again they say you don't notice it after few days.

And now I'm looking at https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienwa ... ccessories
Was also listed on tftcentral.co.uk/ as top 1440p IPS. It doesn't have the curve so feels safer.
