XL2720T Bad Ghosting and blur.

Post by R1! » 04 Jul 2014, 13:54

Good Day Everyone.
Im wondering if you can help me out here.
I have a XL2720T and without using the Blur Busters Strobe -Light Beta 4 playing games on this monitor is very hard on my eyes and it has very bad Ghosting and Blur compared to my old monitor Acer H243H which is a 2 ms monitor.
The XL2720T is a huge disappointment for me, I seriously dont get why it has so much Ghosting and blur.
I have the drivers installed for the monitor.
I have a 7970 6 gig and have tried many many different drivers for it same result.
Win7 64 bit, 8 gig ram hooked by a Dual DVI-D cable.
It makes no difference what cable i use an HDMI, Single DVI cable or dual it all Ghosts and has bad blur.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Just to confirm how bad it is even with the Strobe light enabled I am still getting some ghosting and blur just not as Horrendous with it disabled.

If I disable AMA completely it mostly goes away, AMA on Premium makes it so bad its even worse (Ghosting and smear).
Is this normal or is my monitor bust.
Should I RMA it?

RMA won't do anything.
It's just how Benq's AMA is...it is much worse than Asus' tracefree (plus you can even tweak TF in the service menu, which operates as a 'gain' on the OSD's setting). If you want almost 100% ghost free no motion blur, the only option is the VG248QE with lightboost, unless you get the Eizo, or a gsync monitor. Benq's AMA is simply nowhere In the league of Asus' tracefree.

That being said, Benq BR on the Z series monitors is a bit better, as the AMA is toned down quite a bit, but there's still noticeable ghosting that is NOT present in lightboost mode on the VG248 (same ghosting as you see in Benq's own lightboost so its AMA at fault).

Did you know BenQ's 27" and 24" panels differs a lot? It's even from different manufacturers. Several sources says that 27" panels are worse in terms of pixel transition speeds.

This is true, but the Asus VG278 does NOT have this type of horrible ghosting in lightboost mode. The vg248QE does look nicer motion blur wise, but then you have to deal with the purple tint, and the random 'scanlines' problem (that being said, the VG278 and Benq 2720T/Z do not use the same panel, unlike the VG248QE/XL2411/XL2420T/Z.

I had purple tint and random scanlines problems at while experimenting with LightBoost at BenQ XL2411T :(

Is there any good 27" or is 24" the only option?
