60fps at 60hz vs 60fps at 240hz
60fps at 60hz vs 60fps at 240hz
So I own a 240hz monitor. I'm wondering what looks better, 60fps at 60hz or 60fps at 120hz and so on. I only care about how it looks, i.e. the smoothness, I don't really care about input lag. Also, my monitor is gsync capable, and I use vsync alongside it as blurbusters says that's the best way to use it.
Re: 60fps at 60hz vs 60fps at 240hz
With gsync, and if the monitor's VRR is actually good, then it doesn't matter. You can use 240Hz and get perfect smoothness at 60FPS. If the monitor's VRR is not that good, then 60FPS@60Hz with vsync should be the most smooth you can get, unless the game's renderer has issues, in which case you need an FPS limiter on top, set slightly higher than your monitor's exact refresh rate (if your monitor is 59.95Hz, then you'd cap to 59.96FPS,) to smooth out the game's frame pacing.
You can measure the refresh rate here:

Also note that the refresh rate changes very slightly if you enable/disable gsync in the nvidia panel.

The refresh changes slightly? How so? Also, do you think the Samsung Odyssey G7 has good VRR?
Re: 60fps at 60hz vs 60fps at 240hz
I don't know the technical reason for it. But it does. The difference is very small. Like 239.953Hz vs 239.948Hz.
No idea. There's no reviewers I know of that test the VRR quality of displays. It's as if nobody cares. The only way to know is to get one. Also, do you think the Samsung Odyssey G7 has good VRR?

I actually own one, how would one tell if it has good VRR?RealNC wrote: ↑03 May 2022, 13:41I don't know the technical reason for it. But it does. The difference is very small. Like 239.953Hz vs 239.948Hz.

Re: 60fps at 60hz vs 60fps at 240hz
It it doesn't stutter or flicker when running 60FPS at 240Hz. So basically if you run a 60FPS-limited game at 240Hz with gsync enabled, and it looks the same to you as when running it at 60Hz, then that's a good indication that it works well.
