found out my issue.

Separate area for niche lag issues including unexpected causes and/or electromagnetic interference (ECC = retransmits = lag). Interference (EMI, EMF) of all kinds (wired, wireless, external, internal, environment, bad component) can cause error-correction latencies like a bad modem connection. Troubleshooting may require university degree. Your lag issue is likely not EMI. Please read this before entering sub-forum.

Oh man- that sounds frustrating.

Thanks for linking the tester- I've ordered one.

Would trying a battery backup be possible to confirm if it really is an electrical issue? Even if it can just power your rig for a brief amount of time, I think it might be worth a shot. You could try charging the backup at your Mom's house, then using it to power your setup over at your dad's place. If the lag is gone, then it's almost definitely an electrical issue.

I wonder how expensive those can get.

Would be worth a shot, if you could temporarily buy one to try out and return it.

Generator at your dad's house? Could the generator be the cause of the issues?
