My radeon is more responsive than nvidia

Post by woodyfly » 20 Sep 2022, 18:04

Tested it many times and I noticed my rx580 has less input lag, games look and feel more fluid and I always perform better. I dont think its placebo as I have enough data from my official matches played. Without a doubt always perform better on AMD cards

Noticed the same thing between a 580, 5700, both feeling some much more fluid than my 3090 regardless of FPS and where I capped it. I am really hoping AMD out does nVidia because I am extremely interested in trying their flagship for my main rig. Even testing various driver installs with NVCleanstall, AMD felt superior.

Editing. It was actually a 570 and 5700 comparing. The 5700 is still at my house. All AMD Machines and felt the same between 3000 series to 5000 series. I have had my 3090 since launch that replaced my water-cooled 2080 Ti I had since launch. No mistaking it. Anyone know why?

Any difference between the 570 and 5700? Im thinking of getting a newer gen amd card to replace my rx 580. I only use the 580 just for csgo because I perform better than my 3060ti. its so weird

This is weird because I've been on AMD for like 3 years, changed to Nvidia and my games feel so much better. Might be hardware incompatibility or something.

Could very well be driver related.

Were your tests done with the PC formatted and tweaked in the same way?

I recently replaced my 5700 XT due to driver issues and I currently have a 3060 Ti and nothing has changed, to be honest. I only had a considerable gain in FPS and 0 problems with drivers.

Try the soldering iron method, I have tried it and nothing was had lol

I tried a 2800w iron and a 80w soldering iron in the wall socket I plug my PC into, and to be honest I didn't feel any difference :(

Not that I could tell. Tested on several configurations, Amd 1700, 3600, 3900, 5900, 5950. Aorus Elite, Master, Asus Dark VIII, and both Asus media boards for the 470 and 550. I am wanting to go AMD for next gen GPU hoping they pull of extremely good rasterization and possibly a 13900k depending on what these look like. I always felt like I got more from Intel CPU's but its been years since I have had one.

I believe the way nVidia is going is really going to drive people nuts in this community. It seems they are in a way artificially inflating their FPS. By inserting frames into the render queue using AI, I don't see how this can not slow down the cards. If you're getting 240fps and 1/3 of those frames are made up who cares that you're getting 240fps unless its for the motion or its so fast its not perceivable which based on an nvidia engineers saying they are using reflex to mitigate this just seems to indicate its adding latency.

There's probably some truth to this. AMD Radeon GPU's always came stock in MSI mode. Nvidia GPU's however, w/ the exception of Nvidia Quadro cards, always came stock in line based interrupt mode which is slower than MSI (Message Signaled Interrupts). Finally after many years, all modern Nvidia GPU's now come stock in MSI mode so the input lag disparity may not be a thing anymore.

If you're comparing older cards, the disparity is probably more significant. Comparing modern AMD vs Nvidia cards however are probably not much different at all in regards to input lag. But who knows, I can't say for sure. I know Nvidia drivers come w/ a lot of bloat like telemetry and a ton of other crap you don't need. For people concerned about latency and input lag, it's usually a good idea to use a driver cleaning app like NVslimmer or NVCleanstall to debloat your drivers and then install.
