BenQ XL2411Z V2 Firmware for an Aussie

Post by Manwich » 15 Aug 2014, 08:45

Hey guys,
I've been reading all up on your website and it's all really helpful stuff. I've been thinking of getting a better monitor for a long while, and after reading about the blur reduction and strobe utility I think the XL2411Z is best for me. I play scout in competitive TF2, and it seems like something that would be incredibly helpful.

The problem that I have is I want to make sure that I get the V2 firmware, and I don't think I can do that from any shop in Australia. I followed the amazon link on the 'V2 firmware included' page, but I've never used Amazon before and I'm a bit confused about it all. The page linked appears to go to a monitor that is being sold by Beach Camera, through Amazon. Does this mean that the monitor will definitely be V2 or do I need to go through Amazon as the seller as well?

Thanks a lot,

Manwich.

You could try ringing the Aussie sellers and ask them to check the manufacture date for you (its on the box). I'm not certain if the cutoffs are reliable but I bought a Feb manufactured 2720z that has v2. This was from umart.com.au.

The vast majority of Z-Series are now V2. There has been more than half a year that has passed since then, so pretty much any unit manufactured will almost certainly be V2, no matter where it is ordered: Just make sure it's a reasonably high-volume seller. That way, you can be sure that the monitor wasn't sitting in a warehouse for six months.

Worse comes to worse, there are many avenues of resolution -- many methods of self-upgrading the monitor (including cost-free Linux methods and easy MSTAR methods).

Hmm ok thanks for that, I was going to ring the sellers but I just assumed it wouldn't be V2 firmware, I'll give that a go.

That's just not true. Amazon Germany is a big player and is still sending out v1 after all the time that has passed - kinda annoying tbh.

@Manwich
Someone in here ordered from mindfactory.de and they're only shipping v2 now - dunno about Alternate and i don't know about your local companies but chance is that dedicated resellers now only got v2 just avoid Amazon ...

Yeah I contacted a few local companies and one of them has replied so far confirming they sell monitors with V2 firmware, so hopefully I can haggle them down and get this monitor soon :).
