VG259QM - Best settings 2023 [QUESTION]
Hello,
I've run through multiple threads about this monitor and I couldn't find an updated answer to a question about possibly best settings for VG259QM.
Multiple threads are few years old already and people either recommend 60 or 80 overdrive, while some newer ones stick to 120 and multiple other settings. Youtube videos either claim to totally avoid using Gsync while some others clearly recommend it for low latency, while community of well known tweakers totally make fun of this function and never recommends it.
I know some things might have changed as even some reviews got updated so I'm making this thread to ask some questions, but firstly:
- I'm CPU bound.
RTX2060 + i5 7400
My current monitor settings:
- Brightness 26
- Contrast 80
- Color temp: User Mode: R: 100 G: 94 B: 98
- Vivid Pixel 0
- Game Visual: Racing Mode(ON, for AAA games) ; FPS Mode(ON, for Valorant/CounterStrike/R6Siege)
- Overclocking(ON) - 280hz
- Overdrive: 120
- Adaptive Sync(DP): OFF
- ELMB Sync: OFF
- Shadow Boost: Level 2
1. What do you think are the best settings for this monitor considering what we know right now?
For both AAA and competitive games(by that I mean: using gsync/adaptive sync/ELMB etc)
2. Considering I'm pretty much unable of getting stable FPS in any game.
Example:
- Valorant -> range of 140 to 290 fps(usually around 180-240)
- Resident Evil 4 Remake -> 70-120fps
is it worth using Gsync and If so - How do I set it up properly for my situation?
Note: The monitor is Gsync-Compatible and from what I heard there's a significant difference as normal Gsync has a module? or something like this.
3. As we speak about Gsync, I'm gonna ask a question about Nvidia Control Panel:
- Display Scaling vs Gpu Scaling?
I read in multiple tweaking discords that Display Scaling provides best value as it's much faster, but I found some threads claiming RTX users(or any newer gpu users) shouldn't really be worried about this.
Huge thanks for participating to the thread!

Hi, what is the Overdrive value if I want to keep it at 240hz without overclocking?

Re: VG259QM - Best settings 2023 [QUESTION]
There are some good purposes of lower Hz -- sometimes a high-Hz monitor behaves as a superior low-Hz monitor. For example, underlocking to 240Hz for strobing looks better on the XL2566K than XL2546K because the refresh rate headroom reduces the strobe crosstalk double image effects. Or that overdrive looks better at a lower Hz.
It's all about tradeoffs. Some people buy good 240Hz LCD monitors to treat them like luxury 100Hz CRTs (since 100fps 100Hz strobed on a 240Hz panel looks much better than 100fps 100Hz strobed on a 120Hz panel). Since the world's best 100-120Hz LCDs is the 240Hz-500Hz LCDs, if you have a reason to use a lower Hz on an LCD at the maximum possible strobe quality.
Now that said, there are latency considerations, so you may want to run at max Hz, or add QFT tweaks.

Makes a lot of sense, thank you.
What kind of settings would you recommend for VG259QM?

Re: VG259QM - Best settings 2023 [QUESTION]
Rtings does some awesome reviews and goes so far as to include colour profiles.
https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/ ... ng-vg259qm

Colour profile: https://i.rtings.com/assets/products/lH ... rofile.icm
In terms of what are the best settings performance wise, use the G-sync to avoid stutters.
The overdrive setting will depend, so set it to 240Hz and adjust the OD setting against this test to minimise visual artifacts:

Actually, their profile doesn't seem to work for me for some God knows reason.Tiberiusmoon wrote: ↑26 Apr 2023, 12:21Rtings does some awesome reviews and goes so far as to include colour profiles.

I see literally 0 difference even tho I had spent an hour making sure I did it properly

Re: VG259QM - Best settings 2023 [QUESTION]
Hello everyone. I have a request: could someone who has an active account on the "RTINGS" website please help me out? I need the values listed under the monitor settings Color Accuracy for a specific model. The site used to be free, but now it requires a paid subscription; unfortunately, I live in a country where, due to sanctions, I am unable to purchase a subscription. Thanks for your time.
dont know why they wont let me send link on RTINGS search for this : Asus tuf gaming vg259qm
and i want the " Color Accuracy " values :
Picture Mode
sRGB Gamut Area xy
White Balance dE (Avg.)
Color Temperature (Avg.)
Gamma (Avg.)
Color dE (Avg.)
Contrast Setting
RGB Settings
Gamma Setting
Brightness Setting
Measured Brightness
i want the RACING setting on the right if i remember that correctly . thanks again and sorry for bad english .
