You probaly need to turn off LUA in Windows or disabling secure boot in bios. Im not 100%sure, give it a try

I'm going to get myself an external pci-e usb card on the msc9990 chip. I think this is the best chip among all usb 2.0 controllers.
Compared to usb 3.0/3.1/3.2 it has lower input lag which is what I want.
Another question - where is the mouse delay less, in the built-in ports of the z690 motherboard or in an external pci-e usb card?

Use xperf (detailed analysis) or latencymon (faster check, usually reserved for nasty drivers lingering around) for proper DPC latency analysis on a Server 2022 or Windows 11 install, which have working timer resolution.

Drivers are extremely important for DPC latency when it comes to USB devices, newer motherboards only have microsoft drivers which can cause ISR issues.
As an example, the uPD720202 PCI-E card I got doesn't cause any kind of ISR stutter regardless of what device is on it (tested USB mic, mouse, keyboard, didn't test USB DAC), but has interrupt moderation which doesn't allow for proper 1kHz use, let alone higher polling rates. This is not a specific PCI-E card issue, it's a driver issue as multiple users have reported similar graphs that I've got on mousetester.
500hz is extremely stable on it though.
All of this is on Renesas specific drivers. Microsoft stock drivers cause ISR stutters like mad.

Thanks for the explanation. Now I'm thinking which pci-e card to buy. There are two versions. One with a long board and the other with a short board and short contact lines. I think which one will be better in terms of delays.
