News on the ROG Swift (PG278Q)

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

Customer support told me they are hoping for a shipment in the 2nd or 3rd week of September! I guess blur hating gamers are more prevalent than I thought. Never expected an $800 monitor to sell out so quickly.
I hate being right. I'm tempted to cancel my pre-order w/ Tiger. It's such a scummy thing to list something as "IN STOCK," just to generate pre-orders. And they aren't shipping a single monitor this week? I'm kinda pissed. I should have sat on newegg.

I'm not impatient, but I don't really appreciate being lied to.

EDIT: Talked to a CSR. Completely unhelpful. Wouldn't even upgrade my shipping because the order is being held in "verification," and suggested that I call their billing dept. What a wonderful shopping experience this has been. Tiger Direct: never again. I will probably keep my order but they won't even assure me that I'll receive the next shipment.

Newegg didn't take order that they can not fulfill. This isn't the first time Tiger has done this to me. Mad.

I wouldn't give up on TD just yet, we KNOW they got some, and as far as I can tell, they have not shipped any, so their stock is still intact.

I personally think TD orders are just waiting for their distributor (probably Ingram Micro) to get around to processing and dropshipping them out. They are not as well-equipped to handle single orders so their turnaround time isn't nearly as fast. I think their quoted 2 week stock level is for the monitors (2nd batch?) to arrive at TD warehouses, and that the 1st batch they put up for pre-order is set to dropship from their distributor any day now.

This is largely based on some TD orders I have placed in the past that got dropshipped from their distributor. It takes an extra 2-4 days to process, but once it is sent out, it arrives at the same speed that you paid for.

Haha very true, but on the bright side, someone on HardOCP reported their Saturday preorder from TD shipped and is scheduled to arrive today. Not sure if you ordered on Saturday or not, but anyone who did may have a nice surprise from TD.

The level of fail is off the charts. Don't give Tigerdirect any of your money. It should be a principal thing.

Yeah, I got my shipping upgraded/waved, but I'm still pretty pissed.

ZTylerDurden wrote:Anyways, I still want a native 1080p/1200p monitor. I feel that graphic intensive games will drive frame rates below 50 which is where gsync begins to lose its charm.
Actually, GSYNC increases it charm when the framerate gets to 50 -- since GSYNC 50fps looks much better than non-GSYNC 50fps. Same for GSYNC 40fps, which looks much better than non-GSYNC 40fps. Even GSYNC 30fps is more playable than non-GSYNC 30fps.

I prefer 144fps@144Hz, obviously, but the delta between GSYNC vs non-GSYNC is huge at 50fps, compared to at >100fps.
