I took the easy route and bought a ps/2 keyboard for 5€ instead of spending 100€.
That's one possible route, though may not be the ideal "esports way" since you get the low-Hz lag effect, though that can be the lesser of evil in many situations.

Now, what you did may be the lesser of evils, with zero contention and excellent keyboard mechanicals (if mechanical). Now, a good old mechanical keyboard, does have keyboardfeel advantages for some. That may outweigh.

Just FYI -- even in Amazon Europe, the PCIe USB cards are cheaper than that.

There's multiple problems to fight simultaneously:
- Latency from having too low keyboard Hz
- Latency from USB contention (interference between USB devices)
- Latency from keyboard mechanicals

PCIe USB is not very expensive, 15€ on Amazon. My problem is a good 1000Hz keyboard costs at least 100€.
According to Battle(non)sense, the faster ones are EVGA Z20 and Corsair K70 Rapidfire.
K70 1000Hz beats Z20 4000Hz.
Without videos like these, there is no way to know the latency of a keyboard.
Here is another one:

I have same keyboard. Sometimes when keyboard software enabled, it causes huge input lag when spamming a lot of buttons. After disabling software its back to normal
