However, the amazing kwin-lowlatency fork fixed a lot of problems, and... if you must use Linux with an esports display, use any window manager that builds off the beautiful kwin-lowlatency work.
Developer Quote:
KWin-lowlatency is (was?) my attempt to reduce latency and stuttering in the popular KWin compositor used in KDE. since Plasma 5.21 the developers merged official patches which rewrite great parts of the compositing code, putting it on par with former KWin-lowlatency.
I am excited to go ahead and put this next to my Windows installation for home and gaming purposes to give it a real test drive.
Got lots to experiment and figure out but that's fun to me!
Yes. Domino effects of such a great patch.
The downstream patch merges from kwin-lowlatency was a boon for Linux high-Hz ecosystem and Linux esports.
Best thing to happen to Linux high-Hz world -- and all window managers needs to adopt the workflows that kwin-lowlatency did. Not all of them have implemented these improvements, but I'm very glad to see this spread.

Newb bringing this back up from the dead. Are folks able to try this new feature out under the preview release? Does it work?
I'm heavily into virtual pinball, where many people are using 2, 3 or 4 monitors to replicate a realistic pinball experience in a cab. There are 2 flavors of the software released - one on DX9, for which DWM honors exclusive fullscreen mode and doesn't mess with your main playfield monitor refresh rates, and another more recent version built on GL, which is much more efficient and preferred, but doesn't appear to operate in a true full screen exclusive mode because DWM is just wrecking by playfield FPS.
Hoping to hear this works in Win11 - if so I'll upgrade and run the GL version that I wish I could now.

Bumping this up again as I wanted to ask if anyone has seen improved mixed refresh rate dual monitor performance now that 24H2 is out.
Wanting to avoid upgrading to win11 unless someone can share if there's a chance it will help my multi monitor virtual pinball issues.

You could do that for many years now. All you need is
1) Enable FreeSync
2) Make a driver profile for the app you want to use
3) In the profile settings, explicitly enable FreeSync
Now your FPS will adapt to the content. In chrome browser, for example, hz will adapt to the video. Or when you scroll up/down a page.

Installed 24H2 and win11 did in fact get multiple monitor refresh rate improvements. My 165hz and 60hz monitors now live in harmony and my virtual pinballs are micro stutter free.

Hallellujah!
Time for me to re-test multimonitor TestUFO in the near future.
