Why do most people use inexpensive DACs (usually around $10) found in TVs, phones, and tablets, rather than high-end options like this one: [Esoteric D1X Grandioso DAC](https://krispyaudio.com.au/products/eso ... o-dac.html)?
The answer is simple: most people don't know how it should be.
or maybe people don't need that, don't have the money or they simply are smart enough to not pay for audio snake oil
internal realtek dac adept, you?

Another question: For example, the Sabre ES9038PRO chip costs only $100. But the device where this chip is installed costs $60,000. Why?

what's funny, is that for example any computer audio that is not coming straight from the motherboard, it will have a higher latency

audio through usb 95% of the time can have about 15/40ms extra of latency than the onboard minijack or the optical output from the motherboard

anyone can check it with an automatic audio latency test

https://superpowered.com/weblatency/

If you want the least latency, and have a decent sound through an external dac, you are forced to use the optical output. But an impressive dac with all bells and whistles anyone could want, can cost not much more than 800/1000€. 60.000? they are laughing at the back of anyone purchasing that, and for most of the people, a simple topping dx3 pro+ or fiio k7 of 150€ will offer all they need and more.

I have a topping dx7 pro+, it cost about 500, and have everything I need, balanced xlr outputs, balanced headphone output, amplifier, and perfect sound measuring with no distortion nor audio coloring.

A dac can offer more than an internal soundcard of course, specially for some headphones, which the integrated audio have not enough power to drive, but also, there's a difference between using a decent external dac with some features you could want, and putting a link to a 60k dac, which, no matter what you think, is snake oil as 99.99% of the super high end audio systems

Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. High-end audio cares very much about jitter and doesn't care much about latency. However, you probably think these words are synonyms.I won’t mind if the music starts playing 40ms after I press the play button, but I’ll be devastated if the jitter exceeds 10ps.

you are on a forum of people fighting all kinds of latency saying that you don't care about latency

think about it.

Latency doesn't directly destroy or improve audio quality in high-end systems. That’s what I said. Where am I wrong?
If people do not understand the fundamental difference between jitter and latency, they have little chance of effectively addressing the primary problem. You can ask Google what the Valve developer said about latency and jitter issues, and you'll be surprised.

Recently I was helping a friend figure out why they were crashing in a certain game. I directed them to driver booster on steam and had them update realtek drivers and a couple others. After the person updated, he was still crashing but thanked me for "fixing his mouse problem". I knew before he went further what he was about to say but I also wanted to hear him say it. He told me that his mouse was moving sluggishly lately and it was now back to normal. I thought about telling him about this forum but then I considered the rabbit hole it would send him down. It made me curious how many people are actually plagued with the problem and don't know it.
Most people have lag and the ones who don't sometimes just don't have lag by accident
