All pretty much right here:

If you get a black screen the first time you go 120hz, open up the Blurbusters tool and make sure crosstalk isn't maxed out to the right!

Out of the box it'll be on one of the shitty FPS settings. Just go back to Standard unless you wanna fiddle for hours. Which picture settings are available are affected by this picture mode setting too.

Use Blur Trail, full screen, to set your crosstalk. You want the majority of line on the left (earlier frame), not right, and centered as you like. I've set up two of these screens now and crosstalk does vary a tiny bit between them as as the monitor burns in, so get used to re-setting it every day or so.

Get the 120hz ICC profile from here:
https://pcmonitors.info/reviews/benq-xl2420z/

You'll also want Instant Mode on, Gamma on 5, Brightness 100. Shouldn't have to change Contrast or Sharpness, but use lagom.nl to check them out anyway. These screens definitely have a warm-up/burn-in period when new, and the temporal dithering on Lagom.nl's black level page will look weird, green and red tints, but don't worry about it; looks fine after a few days of use.

Finally, don't forget to save the settings to one of the Gamer profiles, or you can lose it all on turning the monitor off and back on

Don't need Low Blue Light, just get f.lux for color temp adjustment at night.

There are a lot of useless and unfounded gripes about the color on these screens.

144hz isn't really worth the color depth loss and wider top and bottom bands out-of-phase.

Plus any game locked to 60 or, Gaben forbid, 30fps is going to still vsync without continuous microstutters.

Just wait for freesync monitors. They are a few months away, its not a big deal anymore.

Flicker free gsync/freesync monitor is THE one to get.
If you are an enthusiast and already know all about lightboost or any other funky hardcore techs then you will decide on those, and all the problems they come with, yourself.

But for the vast majority g/f sync > uber alles. (if you know what g/f sync`s are you will agree)

Right, Edmond, lets fuck logic and suggest a variable refresh monitor to someone who gets 144fps@144hz without drop.
Good job.

don't worry once freesync is out nvidia will have somehow magically combined gsync and strobing and then you can wait a few months for that :D
