My Battle With Floaty Aim | Weird Temporary Fixes
Re: My Battle With Floaty Aim | Weird Temporary Fixes
linux maybe better but,face it anti cheat dont work on linix,also if you play valorant i think they also have vanguard but i dont know if it works on linux.
Re: My Battle With Floaty Aim | Weird Temporary Fixes
You can look them up individually on Youtube but it's simpler than Windows. For example you just download the Nobara ISO, make it with the tool of your liking, and you'll get a GUI installer asking you for basic stuff like language, partitioning, etc. It requires almost no reading, drivers work out of the box, etc.Roxtar wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 12:50Is there a guide or tutorial on how I could install and game on it?Hyote wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 11:33I don't want to become the Linux guy after being the regedit guy for a while but I really got perfect results on it now. It feels slightly higher latency than what I can achieve on Windows but it's consistent and that's what makes it so great. Seeing that you have an NVIDIA GPU makes it questionable but there really is no other thing I can advise now.
But I have some personal settings for Fedora:
mitigations=off
preempt=none
transparent_hugepage=never
echo 0 | sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/compaction_proactiveness
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/kernel/mm/ksm/run
echo 1000 | sudo tee /sys/kernel/mm/lru_gen/min_ttl_ms
echo 5 | sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/dirty_ratio
echo 5 | sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/dirty_background_ratio
sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
sudo udevadm trigger
irqaffinity=0-3
local_irq_disable()
# find /sys/devices/system/cpu -name scaling_governor -exec sh -c 'echo performance > {}' ';'
# pgrep -P 2 | xargs -i taskset -p -c 0 {}
# find /sys/devices/virtual/workqueue -name cpumask -exec sh -c 'echo 1 > {}' ';'
# sysctl vm.stat_interval=120

I even remember that Valorant had Windows 7 support and now don't more and even don't works on all Windows 10 versions today because of anticheat...

Your tWTR_s timing is set to 8, it's entirely possible that it is unstable at this value.
Try running +16h of RamTestPro (purple icon) just in case.
Using values such as 10 or 12 might wise to consider.
Roxtar wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025, 12:40So to be exact, it's not like I started noticing floating aim, more like I stop feeling it when I switched monitors, it happened as it follows:
I had a zowie as primary and the msi, one day I got bored of the flat colors zowie monitors display so I switched the display port cable from the zowie to the msi and viceversa. As soon as I moved the mouse to close the the windows display settings tab, I felt the mouse moving very crisp and thought to myself 'the mouse is feeling different'. I didn't mind it that much and started a ranked match on valorant, suddenly I was clicking heads instantly without that much effort, but what amaze the most wasn't that, it was the fact that I knew exactly how much I should move the mouse and which direction to place the crosshair where I wanted it to be, I dont' know how to explain it but it was like I was one with the mouse, an extension of my arm. I went from silver to platinum that same night. Next day the feeling was gone and what I suppose is "floaty aim" came back. Then I thought it might be because my monitors are bad so I upgraded for the oled I have now but that wasn't the problem, then I thought something on my old rig was wrong so I bought a new one, and nothing.
Edit: Forgot to mention that before playing valorant, I was Top 500 on overwatch and played it semi pro for 2 years, in case anyone is thinking it's placebo.

The "instantaneous" feel you have experienced could've been caused by 2 factors:
1.) Difference in the display's processing latency
Zowie has some models which have higher than usual display processing latency, thus the switch to the MSI could've drastically helped.
I've read that some people could easily tell the difference between the total processing latency of the XL2566K and XV252QF, in favour of the Acer
2.) G2G response times
The MSI's better rise times (dark to light G2G transitions, IPS trait) could've been more favorable in scenes which you encounter in your games such as Valorant, thus further decreasing the total display latency and playing favorable to your perception.
The 2nd part is what confuses me..
I'd try troubleshooting RAM first, preferably on a clean installation (perhaps even a portable installation), so you don't corrupt your OS.
There are too many factors (both machine, electronics, infrastucture & human-related) to give you any concrete, exact solution...

Posting just to say that the new 1000w psu which is an overkill for my rig, apparently, removed all floaty aim instantly. I recommend reading this thread of the EMI subforum as we can't talk about those kind of things on this category. viewtopic.php?f=24&t=13054

how long has it been since you bought a new power supply?Roxtar wrote: ↑29 Mar 2025, 13:45Posting just to say that the new 1000w psu which is an overkill for my rig, apparently, removed all floaty aim instantly. you bought a slightly different model of corsair power supply, did you pay attention to any other features besides the brand?
Re: My Battle With Floaty Aim | Weird Temporary Fixes
based on data from prompt models the only significant difference is that corsair 1000-1200w power supplies have different types of capacitors
Re: My Battle With Floaty Aim | Weird Temporary Fixes
Appart from higger W, it has japanese capacitors which are suppposedly better, but in fact I bought the PSU because I was doing an all white rig and that one was white, lol.

if changing displays works, try disabling them in device manager (dont worry this wont stop them from working)
