Hi Falkentyne,

I'm at work at the moment; i'll try it as soon as I get in and report back. What sort of thing should I be expecting?
Also, if I recall correctly; I can only set the following refresh rates: 29 30 60 100 120 144. Should I attempt to force 50hz under a custom resolution?

A.

Yeah try it.
If you're using an AMD card, 50hz will automatically be selectable as soon as you enter any custom resolution or standard resolution in Custom Resolution Utility (at least on the 2720Z). Just run restart64.exe after you make a change, so no need to reboot anything.

I think the Benq hides 50hz by default but it gets reactivated as soon as you make any changes.
The VG248QE has 50 and 85hz as normal refresh rates already, on a fresh install or after a reset-all.exe.

If it doesn't add it after a minor CRU change, you can just quickly make a 50hz of 1920x1080, porch 88/4, sync 44/5, Htotal 2200, Vert total 1125.

In game you can lower the GAMMA down to 0 usually the correct value for TN washed out black.

Picture Mode Standard
Blur Reduction ON
Intensity 7
Area 0
Black eQualizer 0
Color Vibrance 10
Instand Mode ON
Brightness 100
Contrast 47
Sharpness 5-6
Gamma 5
Color Temperature User Define
R 93
G 100
B 95
AMA High

If you want DEEP Black no fade out black. (2-3 black shade level crushed.)

Color Vibrance 11
Contrast 35-40 (to ensure not overblown grey turns yellow tint)
The rest are the same as above

Enjoy... I have spent at least 2-3 hours tweaking between applications and games to see what's best.
Can someone explain blur reduction settings? intensity and area.. why area 0?

Falkentyne wrote:I believe you ran into a bug.

I know the Z monitors have this bug also.
Single strobe OFF is supposed to make the monitors double strobe at 50, 60 and 75hz, and single strobe at 76-144 hz.
However is single strobe is set to off, if you toggle blur reduction to on (if it's off), it uses the default settings for strobe duty (persistence) and strobe phase (area). It will instantly change to your custom settings as soon as the brightness is changed, or if you enabled blur reduction through a profile switch (using a profile switch also 'changes' the brightness since the screen is initialized with the profile settings), or you changed the strobe duty or strobe phase through the service menu.

You may have run into that bug.
The easiest way to avoid it if you have single strobe set to off, is to enable blur reduction through the S switch/profile switch.
But that's assuming the 2430T reacts the exact same way as the Z's

BTW can you do me a favor?
Please.

set brightness to 30 (please don't set it to 100, LED damage could possibly occur)
Set single strobe to ON and turn blur reduction off.
Set the video card to 50 hz.
Enable blur reduction.

What happens?
how can i turn strobe on?

Intensity is (I think) persistence (clarity; lower persistence=darker screen=clearer motion because the strobe refreshes are faster).
Same thing as "strobe duty" on the Z monitors, but this was only adjustable through the service menu (or the windows utility) on the Z monitors.

Area is the same thing as "strobe phase". Area 0 puts the top crosstalk (thick double image ghosting, aka "strobe pulse") border as close to the top of the screen as possible. It goes farther up the screen the lower the intensity is; 003 intensity should have it almost completely off the top of the screen. I find 006 (intensity) to be the best value IF you are using the vertical total 1500 tweak (or 1350) ,then 006 corresponds to a 1ms persistence, and 006 (1ms) pushes the top of the strobe pulse high enough up, while keeping enough brightness to look decent. If you are not using VT tweaks, then 010 is 1.0ms (at 100hz).

Using Vertical Total resolution tweak of 1500 will move the bottom crosstalk (strobe pulse) field completely OFF the bottom of the screen

When enabling blur reduction the screen goes black and I can see a kind-of silhouette of the windows that are open. The 50hz setting didn't save with CRU so I just added the 1080p50 preset; didn't notice this in CCC before.

Is this what you expected?

Turn SINGLE STROBE to [ON] from the service menu.

To access the service menu, turn the monitor off, hold down the menu key (second one from the bottom) and press the power button. When the monitor powers up, press the menu key and you should be presented with a blue service panel.

Just turned on VT1350 on my 2430T. I didn't know it would make it brighter as well. At Intensity 20 and Area 0, it looks almost as good as the PG278Q on the Alien Invasion test, and the usual frame rate test looks better as well (for being brighter, I suppose).

Note: if Area is greater than around 30 or so, the screen will blank.
