Over 75% of 120+Hz monitors are players of such games.

We already have them. Quake series, CS, racing games...
bbbut they dun look gud
grrrrrrr

my friend, do you think a tennis court needs to have fancy textures in order to play well? Quake ain't meant to look pretty, it's all about the gameplay!

It would be nice if phones started supporting refresh rates higher than 60hz. I know most phones use IPS screens which wouldn't see as much benefit, but the Galaxy series of phones uses OLED and you would easily be able to see the difference.

They could easily overcome any problems with the bandwidth since the hardware is built in with the screen, just like what Apple did with their 5k iMac.

4k@120hz on a 5 inch screen
HNGGGGGGGGGGG

If Samsung or Apple does it the other will follow along with other phones. People will notice how awesome higher refresh rates are, marketing departments will take notice and games will start targeting higher refresh rates, bandwidth will increase and youtube will support any frame rate and resolution, and the world will join hands and sing Kumbaya.

VR Flight sims for the military will be the main push for it just like all the racing sim stuff we have today, although i'm not sure what the limit is, I do remember a NASA study that pilots can identify plane models at 250hz...so atleast that...

you'd easily see a benefit with the ips screens too.

google and android manufacturers really need to work on their touch screens responsiveness first though...

People have overclocked panels to 250hz and 340hz. So i have seen on these forums.

Better scalars need to be developed for such bandwidths if this were to go into mass production... anyway i would argue that we COULD and should try to hit 400hz retail panels. And then you could have flicker free, variable refresh rate monitors with pixel persistence that goes as low as 2.5ms. (@1000 pixel motion per sec)

Would need to have oled prices drop and smaller oled panels to go into production. Cuz TN is just so shit... all this amazing tech is wasted on trash like TN and u cant use IPS or VA for this.
Displayport1.3 has the bandwidth to do 500hz 4/4/4 full 10bit color @ 2000x1000pixels.

Dunno, anyone wana do a kickstarter when oled prices drop? in how many more years that will be...

Oculus is using these screens in low-persistence mode, in their Development Kit 2. So, technically, it's just modifying the chips that drives these screens -- to get "LightBoost" on your smartphone.

That's a sexy thought!
