The 27" Acer XB270HA is a real 8bit panel (same as ROG swift) and exactly in your price range. As far as colors go, thats as good as your going to get if you want to enjoy games too.

You could wait and see whats announced from CES2015 in 3 weeks, but chances are that if there is something for gaming with good colors released its going to be too expensive for the next few years anyway.
Yeah I see your point and that monitor is pretty awesome except for the fact that its a 27 inch 1080p and I fear for the sharpness of the image, however what about the AOC G2460PG 24" Widescreen G-Sync 144Hz, any idea if this monitor is any good?

Im pretty sure that AOC is a 6bit with dithering panel. Not actual 8bit...

I dunno, i dont think the 24" vs 27" 1080p is much of a difference.... its all the same grainy shit imo, the real sharpness starts @ 2160p and above. I would just take the bigger display cuz i like big displays. Moved to playing on a 720p 120hz projector myself.

Also you have the gpu hardware to use nvidias DSR where you render 4k and display that on your 1080p... obviously wont look as good as real 4k, not even close, but should solve your problem even if there is any.

If you're not in a hurry, it might be a good idea to wait for the upcoming FreeSync displays. Current news says they may be out Jan-Feb. I think this has a chance of being more forward looking than GSync. If nothing else, it might drop the GSync monitor prices.

I should add that I had to sit there waiting for 10/15 min and once it was my turn the guy took his time to check everything out before he accepted the refund.
Not bad. Looks like the US isn't the only place where you have a chance to get a good specimen by replacing multiple times. Too bad I'm in neither. :)

Hi again and thanks for all your great feedback so far, I was looking around some more and came across the Dell 24" Ultra Sharp U2415, However as this is a fairly new screen I was wondering if it has any problems with back light bleed / IPS glow.

As I stated I mainly play MMOs and RPG games like skyrim and although I do play FPS games every now and then I am not very competitive.

Would like to see what you guys think about this screen, I also really like the fact that its 16:10 / 1920x1200

It depends on whether better colors are more important to you, or less motion blur. There are advantages of blur reduction that eliminate motion blur, which looks nice during turning during 3rd person view in some games. And GSYNC can also smooth things out if you hate a lot of stutter in your games.

Is color more important? (IPS, VA)
Is display-assisted stutter reduction more important? (GSYNC)
Is lack of motion blur more important? (LightBoost, ULMB, BENQ Blur Reduction)?

Pick one or two of the above, not all three. No display will give you all three above.
