That's thet thing. You aren't tracking with your eyes, unless an object is darting from edge to edge. You're tracking with your brain, and the brain doesn't like blurriness.
I used to game on Unreal Tournament 2003 on my viewsonic CRT.
I had never used a LCD screen before, but when Frys had a 'local' UT2003 tournament, they had GIGANTIC LCD's there...I mean this was what, 2003 (before Unreal 2k4's release) and the LCD's had to be at least 27-30" (never realized they had screens that big unless they were for professional displays).
But the lag fest completely showed.
Everything was blurry. I could NOT aim. At the time I didn't know why..I thought maybe it was because of the 60 fps or I didn't know what, but it definitely affected my aiming...can you say "Swamp cursor?" When I went back home to my CRT, boy...the difference was night and day....
Nowadays LCD's are MUCH more snappier and lag free than those lag bosses from back then, but still, motion blur reduction affects response times, because you can SEE your target CLEARLY. If it's blurry, then your responses may not be changed by point blank (close quarters) combat, but if someone is far away, they won't be moving smoothly, and your brain doesn't process this type of movement optimally, so you will have to do more work to know where to aim. it's also dizzying to have things moving in a blur, instead of being crisp and clear. If things are clear, you track better. If you track better, you react faster.
