1) falkentyne is absoloutly right! :) i used to play in 1440x1080 (4:3 stretched) but switched back to full HD and it is great!

2) in cs:go make sure that FXAA is disabled! ingame and in video drivers (nvidia: in the same menu where u disable vysnc)... FXAA makes the stuff blurry and go with 8 x msaa and 8 x af ingame (also enable msaa in driver same menu as above) ... that should help a lot! thats why mouz niko and co use this settings on lower res (he also plays on 1024x768), it makes the game a bit more crisp and sharp...

but there is no longer a point to play 4:3 BB or stretched ... the pros are not good in hardware settings/video settings/monitors... its not the optimum they play... they are just to "stupid" to learn to play on 1920x1080 ;)

Hi guys,

Sorry to revive this thread. But I can't seem to get a 4:3 (black bars) res without GPU scaling in CSGO, which looks like absolute shite.

I'm not using any VT tweak or anything, have an nvidia gpu. Is there an actual way of doing display scaling?

Cheers

For DX9 games, you need to create a custom resolution in ToastyX CRU. That exact resolution and refresh rate will be Display scaled (you will use the monitor OSD to select Aspect, 1:1 or full = display scaling).

DX10 games always use GPU scaling as far as I know, although you can still create custom resolutions. The exact refresh rate and res you created under DX10 won't be used (the game will switch to the next available refresh rate).
