The best thing to do is contact your regional BENQ for the best information on this.
One could, however, wait a while to order the Z-Series (to make sure the channel is full of V2 monitors), or manually upgrade the monitor yourself (also order the MSTAR ISP), or simply buy a different monitor from the Official List of 120Hz Monitors.

Greatest Gaming Monitor?

To compare;
-- The 27" panels (XL2720T LightBoost and XL2720Z BENQ) have more strobe crosstalk than the 24" 1ms panels (XL2420TE, XL2411Z, XL2420Z)
-- BENQ Blur Reduction has much better colors than LightBoost (color tinting, low contrast)
-- BENQ Blur Reduction works at more refresh rates (60Hz through 144Hz in 1Hz increments) than LightBoost (100Hz, 120Hz)
-- LightBoost persistence (1.4ms at 10%, through 2.4ms at 100%) is not nearly as adjustable as BENQ Blur Reduction (0.5ms thru 5.0ms)

When taking photographs of either LightBoost and BENQ Blur Reduction, keep in mind that shutter timings can cause some black bands to show up. This is due to timing of shutter relative to timing of the strobe backlight flash.

Also, do not use AMA settings when enabling BENQ Blur Reduction; as AMA makes strobe crosstalk worse.
Toggle BENQ Blur Reduction off then on again. This renitializes the BENQ Blur Reduction for its custom specific AMA settings.

We should not turn AMA off though, should we? Just toggling mbr will give us the correct value even though it's shown as AMA high in the menu, right?

No. If you turn AMA off and then toggle MBR off and on... well, it will be the same as AMA off without toggling anything.

Yes. It's a bit less strong as AMA high. I wish there were an AMA medium option.

After comparing AMA off and high, it's pretty much ghosting vs inverse ghosting. Take whatever you hate less. In some cases, one is more noticeable than the other.
BenQ MBR can have less motion blur than Lightboost, and it pretty much doesn't have crosstalk after applying the VT trick, but Lightboost image is cleaner (IIRC, because I haven't used LB for a week), having less overdrive artifacts.

Yeah but after using the 1500 tweak (1500 or master's VT timings should be used (144 hz is too high for any tweak to be used), the strobe crosstalk is very minimal. Ignore the ghosting/afterimages; its worse on static 2d backgrounds than it would EVER be in an actual game. but LOOK AT THE COLOR differences.

the lightboost pic is all muted and faded and you can see a purpleish haze everywhere.
The Benq BR pic? full of color.
Yeah LB is cleaner, but that's about it.

Yeah, I know. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with my purchase. The possibility of 60Hz (or even lower) with MBR is something I appreciate a lot, alongside the flexibility of the strobe length. And then, colors and contrast are a lot better with MBR.
Maybe I'm just too pessimistic :P . If I had bought the ASUS monitor with G-Sync, I'd be complaining about the lack of flexibility of ULMB, and saying that a 2ms strobe isn't enough short for me (and it isn't, as I usually play with 0.5ms).
Falkentyne wrote:Yeah LB is cleaner, but that's about it.
That's my ONLY complaint about MBR. Otherwise, perfect for me. I think I'm becoming very sensitive to almost everything lately.

Does the strobing on this monitor eliminate motion blur well even at 60fps/hz? I want to do smooth vsync at 60fps/hz....with blur reduction on. Would the picture quality be affected at 60fps/hz?
