For same display tech, CRT vs CRT, higher Hz is definitely less eyestrain.

But if you compare across display tech, a low-Hz CRT flicker may be less eyestrain than a high-Hz global-squarewave strobe. (e.g. for some people, 85 Hz CRT might be less eyestrain than 120Hz global-strobe backlight).

It's all about the nuances. A rolling flicker means the display is emitting light at least somewhere on the display surface.

Appreciate it Mark. I guess it all comes down to having first hand experience. And Ive only ever used crts decades ago. Maybe I'll dip my toe in when Im employed.
