Hey guys,
somebody I send my lpt to vga cable to tried to update his 2411z monitor. Unfortunately, he didn't read the tutorial properly and missed to get the monitor into standby mode. Instead he used it while flashing, so it kept erasing forever. When I told him about it, he realised his mistake and used a second monitor with which it worked fine. However, now the monitor is dead and unresponsive.
He took of power, but the monitor remains dead. He can flash it, though. But now, not even that is working anymore. He got that error message:

Hi,

The screenshot looks like a bug in MSTAR ISP tool, it probably can't handle the data it receives from the screen. Pulling the power was also probably not the best idea : as long as you don't cut power, the old firmware can still be running from RAM. I see 3 options from here :
- try with a different flasher, like the Linux one (http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=779). It might work if it's just a bug, and won't work if the code that allows flashing is in the firmware;
- open the screen, connect or solder a SPI programmer to the flash chip and flash it directly;
- call BenQ's support and play dumb, they might replace your screen.

Also: you probably should have started a new thread, since it's a different issue and this one is marked as "resolved" ;)

Thank you for your answer. He will probably struggle with the linux version. Chief might be able to contact BenQ about this pickle.
I told him to wait until tomorrow and leave it unplugged, maybe that's gonna empty the caps/RAM.

Could changing options like "reconnect", "restore data", "erase device" do anything?

To solve this bricking issue: He sent it to BenQ, got it back two and a half weeks later as v1 and flashed it succesfully.
So remember not to use the monitor while flashing! And sending it in IS an option. They didn't refuse to reset it, even though they probably could have.

Hey guys,

first of all i want to say thank you for these informations and work here.

I got a little Problem with my BenQ XL2411Z.
I built a DIY parallel upgrader and flashed my monitor successfully, i thought so. There was the green “Pass” information and screen turned off and on, but no burn-in test and its still on Firmware 001. What did i do wrong?

Sry for my bad english, i’m from germany :).

Thanks a lot.
