I only use OD 40 with 280hz refresh rate. But a game like Modern warfare where I stay around 150 fps or lower it looks the best. OD 60 looks blurry. I will give 240hz and 60 OD a try though.axaro1 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2020, 17:11You should either pick OD40 or OD60, some users report better results with OD60 and others with OD40.
The only way to see any difference is to use ufotest ghosting and choose yourself, there's a VG259QM review stating that OD40 is better than OD60 (similar to the VG279QM), I tried his same test and I got his exact same results however his method (3840 pixels per seconds and checking ufotest retention with a high fps camera) is IMO incorrect for checking motion clarity, camera pursuit is still the best way to test it.
Personally I notice a small improvement that OD60 has over OD40, the black tends to have a smaller trail behind on the left side of the UFO, this is mostly noticeable in the lower and middle strip while the one with the darker background has no improvement from OD40 vs OD60.
The yellow and white part of the UFO are slightly brighter with OD60, this means that it either manage to complete a perfect color transition inside the 4.17ms window or it introduces an extremely low amount of color overshoot for these brighter colors (But I'm not sure about it because there are no visible coronas behind the ufo, however OD80 and OD100 share this same behaviour while introducing a noticeable amount of overshoot at this same referesh rate)
OD60 is really good for 240hz, 2 out of 3 ufotest strips have absolutely NO CORONAS AND NO BLUR.
Minor blur is only noticeable on the ufo with the darker background (like every other 240hz IPS).
What I'm currently using is 240hz OD60 with Freesync and 235-246fps cap, I play with high sensibility (wrist aiming) and I noticed that if I play with OD80 I tend to lose track of the targets if I flick or move the camera fast.
The overshoot level is not worth the slightly better motion clarity.
Unless you are playing at 280hz stick to OD60, it is very consistent.
And yes there is absolutely no difference between OD0, OD20 and OD40 at 240hz.
