Thanks for the info! That is a 2016 monitor?

Maybe if I went the software BFI route, I'd have to make sure to use Fast IPS or die trying!

The other option is to use RetroArch software-based BFI
I tried that here, and the image retention issues are severe. After only a minute or so, parts of the panel retained images of past frames. It took over 30 minutes for the panel to recover and the retention to disappear.
Are you not aware that 180 Hz is image retention immune on all panels. I have posted about this several times in Area 51 in the past, as well as in Programming.

You can use odd divisors to avoid image retention of software BFI.

For 60Hz content, the 180 Hz and 300 Hz are successfully tested to be perfectly image retention proof, using 3-frame and 5-frame BFI sequences (1 visible and rest blank).

For PAL content (50Hz), you can use 150Hz which should work on your 165Hz 1440p display that I believe you currently use.

This keeps BFI out of sync with the voltage inversion electronics, and prevents static electricity from building up in the pixels.

I now remember reading about it, but it didn't stick because I don't have a 180Hz display. It only goes up to 165Hz.

Sorry for the bump on my own post, what do you think about the LG-27GP850-B monitor?

It seems to be Nano (Fast) IPS along with the ability to OC to 180hz from 165hz. I guess I'll end up connecting via DP anyway if I'm going 180hz route.

Looks like I might be able to take advantage of 180hz with software BFI using the OC mode.

Thinking I got a winner here...

I also think the BenQ XL2746S would be nice, too, even though it's TN. Thinking about getting that and making a custom 180hz resolution with Large Vertical Totals as I discovered on this website...

I am also on the hunt for a perfect monitor for an arcade cabinet, what did you end up using in the end?
