Chickenfeed wrote:Shooter wise, I've been able to get most pegged at 120, but like you said things such as Crysis 3 ( Metro Last Light and Arma III as well), that's just not going to happen. Myself I play Guild Wars 2 a lot and it is extremely cpu limited ( and scales horrible with higher end hardware and multiple gpus) and has the most erratic performance of any game I've played so its the thing I'd be most interested in using GSync with. Getting 120fps pegged, even 60, is a pipe dream in the game's busy areas.
I was actually playing Guild Wars 2 tonight and wondering how much G-sync would benefit it. I recently discovered that it seems to be one of those games with an internal vsync mechanism: even with vsync disabled there is zero screen tearing. Turning vsync on adds input lag, reduces performance, and makes it stutter more on my system. I can't believe I'd left the vsync option for so long. The game will be an interesting test due to the widely variable performance and the near impossibility of maintaining >30 fps at all times and I will definitely be reporting on my results once I receive my upgrade kit.

That's what I was thinking when I saw your entry pop up earlier! There's only 148 registered users on the forum, and I don't think there's more than 40 entries in the giveaway so it's a pretty big coincidence.

I can't tell you how excited I am to be chosen to test out G-sync! Congratulations to everyone else who won and I hope we'll be able to reveal useful information for the rest of the forum through our testing. I have a pretty large Steam library so I'll be testing as many games as I can with vsync off vs vsync on vs g-sync. Perhaps it would be useful to start building a list of tested games between everyone who's using G-sync?

Everyone,

Overall, even the ones that did not make it -- all of these other submissions were some of the best submissions I've seen to any online giveaway, ever. Nearly all submissions on Tomshardware or Pcper weren't nearly as the _average_ submissions here on Blur Busters. I'm exhausted because I hate disappointing people. ;)

If I won the lottery, I'd be buying G-SYNC upgrades for all 34 qualified contestants -- well 29 extra boards, since NVIDIA is providing 5. :D

Congratulations, everyone! All of us are still winners in heart, because this is what makes Blur Busters great; thinking minds that help tell the gaming industry we can do better with our displays.

Since it's midnight in my timezone now, consolation prize announcement will come tomorrow evening (Eastern Time Jan 7th)

Over and out -- a big goodnight from this timezone for this exhausted chief.

Congrats to the winners!

I'm slightly glad that they won; they seemed a lot more qualified than me! In any case, I hope you all enjoy buttery smooth tear-free gaming!

Thanks Blur Busters for holding a great giveaway. I'm impressed by the lot of you who have lots of DIY experience. (Especially the #1 winner... wow great job!)

Sincere congratulations to the winners! Can't wait to see what you guys have to say about G-Sync. For my part, I think I'm less disappointed I didn't win than I am the upgrade kit costs $200. Better start saving!

Oh well... I wish I had won one of the chips, but seeing as I'm only 16, I can see why I wasn't as qualified as the other winners. Cool to read all the other submissions, I guess I have some things to add to my list of things to do when I build a new PC!

Congratulations to the winners. I don't remember if the consolation prizes were described. If not, I'm looking forward to the surprise.
