Thanks Chief, however if I order the MSTAR unit, do I need to open the monitor to apply the fixed firmware?Chief Blur Buster wrote:I have been talking to BENQ and expressed the importance of expediting this. But still, it is still taking time. I know this means people who have the monitors are out of luck. As Chief Blur Buster, if you want to return the units and get different monitors, it is a valid option I can understand going for.
Meanwhile, if any of you order the MSTAR unit, please PM me and I can see what can be done more quickly.

Re: BENQ XL2720Z 27" of goodness :)
Be warned that as far as I know, that linked MSTAR ISP unit is not identical to the one I have here. The information I have at here tells me that it should work, but there isn't a 100% guarantee. In addition, I still would need to make sure there is no issue with BENQ having me supply the firmware through a PM. That said, if you had the MSTAR ISP in your hands already, they are not very likely to say "Please ship the monitor instead of sending him the firmware".LogicElite wrote:Thanks Chief, however if I order the MSTAR unit, do I need to open the monitor to apply the fixed firmware?

Re: BENQ XL2720Z 27" of goodness :) [and firmware bug]
Excerpts from email I've received from BENQ:
"...We do know it is important for some of user to adjust the timing by their own..."
"...expect the new FW will be in the XL2720Z from the begin of Feb...."
Some caveats. Keep in mind there's the Chinese New Year which may shift things around a bit (this is BENQ's Taipei head office, where the R&D is). Also, this does not include the delay of shipment of units from the factory to the stores, which can take over a month. As soon as I know the serial number/manufacture dates, I'll be able to supply the information such as "Look for XL2720Z moniotors manufactured after YYYY-MM-DD".

Meanwhile, use NVIDIA Custom Resolution or use ToastyX Custom Resolution Utility, and try Vertical Total of 1350 with 1920x1080p 120Hz, this will help current users of the XL2720Z in greatly reducing strobe crosstalk.

Thanks to keep us updated. I really appreciate it and I do not think being the only oneChief Blur Buster wrote:Excerpts from email I've received from BENQ:

Did you know if they going to release the updated firmware fix also on February?

The best method of fix is currently monitor replacement (return/exchange).LogicElite wrote:Did you know if they going to release the updated firmware fix also on February?
The firmware download won't be made publicly available, but I am able to work with BENQ to make special arrangements for Blur Busters readers who own MSTAR ISP units (send me a PM). It was never intended to be firmware upgraded by the public.

Unfortunately these models can't be flashed without additional hardware, as was stated earlier in this thread, so releasing the firmware won't help the majority of people.LogicElite wrote:Thanks to keep us updated. HI,
that would be really nice. Because if we have a serial from which the firmware is fixed that would be easy to ask the shop for it. Manufactoring-date is not as easy to ask for.
