Not sure which 'European markets' they're referring to. Better not be thinking only of the limited, expensive UK pre-orders and assuming that means 'Europe' is covered.

Seriously, all I've seen is an entry on Amazon.de Marketplace from a company asking like 1560 euros for the screen...no thanks.

Any Europeans able to correct me here?

I'm not super good in English but i remember from my high school times, that a word "might" is used in a very uncertain situations. So it is still unclear whether it is going to be a standart for the Display Port or not :) Time will tell.
And for those hardcore gamers, there is a G-SYNC enabled ROG monitor availble now.

Mine should arrive at the end of the month...

Well, there's a German retailer that has it listed as "in stock", and several that expect to get it on 25th.
So it does seem to be available in Europe, just not everywhere yet.

To my European friends how are prices doing over there for this monitor? I remember someone linked a website from the UK where the monitor was over priced. I'm assuming there are plenty of scalpers out there trying to turn this product over and make a hefty profit right now.

I'm not familiar with the companies over there that sell electronics, but here in the States we have retailers like TigerDirect and MicroCenter, then from the internet we have Newegg and Amazon. Sadly none of them have brought up a page for this monitor yet. Is there a huge market up in price still or can you get it from the $799 USD converted to your currency?

As stated four posts above yours, the monitor is basically not yet available in Europe. Where it can be pre-ordered it is significantly more expensive than the US RRP

Most of the preorders are for the MSRP (799€, yes that's more than 799$ but prices for electronics are pretty much always 1:1 between $ and €)

Here's another article on the release date by AnandTech:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/8290/asus ... r-released

The title says September for North America but when reading the whole article they say "by the end of August". September it is!
