Oh sorry, I missed that the incorrect file has one more digit in its size than it was expecting (e.g. 2MB instead of 256KB). So I see now, you've got the wrong flash chip configured. You have it set for a flash chip that's only 256K, while the firmware file you're using is 2MB (8 times the size). That 256K chip is probably some configuration storage or maybe HDCP-related chip it found in the monitor, unrelated to what you want to do.

Thanks alot my friend! You've saved me :)
Apparently I've selected the wrong BUS. Now everything worked perfectly and I'm on V2.

Thank you for your help.

Id'like to thank you very much.
It worked perfectly for me.

I was using my desktop gaming PC.
I disconected my Ati GPU (R9 290X)
I pluged the XL2420Z on the intel's cor i5 VGA ouput and a second screen ont the intel's DVI output.
I installed the last available version of ubuntu.
For those who are not familiar with linux don't forget to install theses packages :
sudo apt-get install svn
sudo apt-get install i2c-tools subversion libpci-dev
Video output for the 2420Z was disabled (display menu in ubuntu) and screen was in standby mode.
I followed the blog's instruction : don't forget to download and use the proper firmware at this step : dd if=XL2420Z_V2_20131209_4D1F.BIN of=firmware.bin conv=notrunc . The firmware shall be in the /flashrom directory)
And that's it.

Again thank you very much :D

Oh lord, after reading every single comment on this post I really want to try updating my firmware, to bad I'm not man enough to take a chance on bricking my 500$ monitor. Guess I'll just keep my monitor on V1 and hope that I'll meet a person familiar with linux in the near future or man a bit up.

You won't brick it. go to page 3 or 5 and follow the instructions for the umbuntu flash boot disk.

I'll probably go for it after I call the place I bought it from to check if they can do it by any chance, a slim chance, but still a chance worth taking as I think if I do it myself I could have some warranty issues.

Hello, and thanks for the instructions. I've currently connected my XL2411Z this way:

Graphics card DVI output -> DVI to VGA adapter -> VGA cable -> XL2411Z VGA input

Following the steps here, I've been able to successfully complete all of them up to the last one, where the firmware writing occurs. Before proceeding, I thought I'd ask you to be sure if it's okay to do this, as I'm not using the recommended (?) pure VGA connections.
