Yes the ULMB is much darker than the ROG swift's. In my opinion it is too dark to use, unless you are using it at night and all of your other monitors are reduced significantly in brightness.

There may be something I'm missing, but I cant find any way to increase the brightness higher in ULMB mode.

Other than the ULMB brightness, I would say this monitor is perfect. The colors are great, G-sync works like a charm, and the ghosting I was getting earlier was because I set the overvolting feature on the monitor to Extreme - which I would not recommend you do.

hopefully something will come out in the near future that will allow us to adjust the persistence of the strobe for the monitor, this should help with the brightness

I'll post a video for you guys when I get home today. It'll just be a short demo showing the colors compared to my Dell IPS panel and the brightness shift when enabling ULMB.

Mine just arrived.

First, I am moving from a midrange acer 60hz monitor.

Pros:
-This monitor had very good colors out of the box and only tweaked the brightness, contrast, and gamma to my liking.
- the move to 144 hz is astounding
- great height adjustment (16.1 inches at its lowest), swivel (easy to use), and pivot.
- Gsync is in working order
- No dead pixels
- No speakers (haha thank god what a stupid thing for a gaming monitor, newegg said it came with speakers).
- Real sturdy construction
Cons:
- The ULMB is fairly dark. I don't think it is unplayable but in games such as csgo where I can hit 144fps all day, I don't notice a whole lot of difference whether its on or off, so I put it off to keep the brightness up. It would be nice to use this feature in the future I guess but 144hz is so fast (moving from a 60hz) I don't find UMBL necessary to enjoy the experience.
- The bezel is very shiny and reflective to the point of distraction when I am looking at the sides of the screen.
- The base is fairly large, the monitor rests 9 inches from the rear of the base. If you're tight on desk depth this may be a problem
- 1080p on 27" may some pixels visible when reading type but I don't find it at all a problem while gaming

Conclusion:
Very impressed with this monitor so far (hopefully everything stays the way it is). Seems like a good deal compared to other gsync monitors for $499 and 27 inches

If you're on the market for a quality G-sync monitor - this is a very good option.

I got mine today! Any good settings as far as color calibration goes? Also, any drivers or profiles for the monitor (you guys out there with this display) that need to be installed? Lastly, what the freak is overdrive? Manual fails to mention it. Other than that, I agree with everything that has been said so far. A very good monitor for the gsync experience at an accessible price. The only thing is the shinny bezel that keeps being a finger/dust magnet. Urgh!

Thanks. Looks like a nice monitor. Is the monitor stand though as flimsy as it looks? It appears that the smallest vibration on the desk the monitor is sitting on would make it shake (I have this problem with my current monitor, which is extremely light, and even typing on my keyboard makes the monitor shake if I type quickly.)

Monitor base is actually very sturdy. But also very big. I don't believe small vibrations will have any effect on shaking the display
