Yeah, but, I've been using BFI on my Zowie XL2411P since I got it (3 or 4 years ago), and even when dealing with the VERY low brightness of BFI on XL2411P I still love it, that is why Im looking for something with that clarity motion or even higher if possible
When strictly speaking about strobing, the XL2566K (in the 100-240hz range) is pretty much crosstalkless (when QFT trick and strobe utility are used) and much better than the XG2431.
You are definitely going to get a clearer picture (no/less crosstalk) on both of the above mentioned monitors over anything else on the market.
However, it is important that you are also able to sustain these frames reliably, meaning high refresh rate strobing is useless to you.
Most strobing should be done in 60-300hz range (in my opinion) as above that, sample and hold is getting dangerously close to 2ms MPRT (XL2566K @ 360hz no dyac)
Will you see a difference when upgrading? Yes
Over your monitor, wIth the XL2566K, you'll see:
- Much better handling of strobing (minimal to no crosstalk) with a much better range (100-250hz)
- Fastest sample and hold experience (non-strobed) on the market
- Better viewing angles (not entirely sure on this one)
The biggest con of the XL2566K, however, is the price.
WIth the XG2431, you'll see:
- Best motion handling on an IPS on the market, with a bigger range and emphasis on emulator content (60-240hz, 60hz-144hz is completely crosstalkless)
- 10bit color (as opposed to 6bit+FRC of both the xl2566k and xl2411p)
- Much better viewing angles
- Slightly sharper display (bigger PPI)
Whatever you pick from these two depends on your budget and what FPS you can run your games at consistently.
It is of utmost importance to run games at fps = hz when strobed.
From a pure motion clarity perspective, these two can only be topped by the OLED if any kind of BFI is implemented (either software or hardware), the rest of the market is no-where close.
The new ASUS 540hz display might compete if any form of strobing gets implemented (and allows for fine adjustments, which is not very likely to happen), but waiting on it is futile imo, since you're stuck on 300fps in Apex.
My pick from the two would go to the XL2566K, because you got a much bigger refresh rate headroom (360hz display running on 240hz allows for much less pronounced crosstalk than a 240hz display running on native refresh rate) over the XG2431 and you can do 240fps/hz on most modern hardware very easily (even in Apex). You also get a geometric refresh rate increase (144hz to 360hz is 2.5x, much easier to spot the difference over the small ~1.5x increase from 144hz to 240hz)
