It did make lasting change and that's why I asked this question. My fps reduced around 50 fps.
The risk of running a exe someone on a forum posted -not saying it is bad, but I would never run a random exe as admin on my PC just saying..
I want to write exact same but decided to don't and just some minutes ago...like changed my mind...

But you now my brother and because you the are who had same thoughts like me and just for making this comment...thanks for this. Sadly I myself cant speak more freely and like human on this Forum and every of my step need an approvement by mod...

So you maybe will see or not see this message and comment from me... mods and the gods will decide about this...

At least don't litter the post with stupidity whether it's intentional or not. The program is open source, meaning you can build it.

I agree regarding the risks of executing untrusted precompiled exe, I do appreciate that the source code is published vs just a Github with an exe.

Can you update your github so most visitors know how to build it themselves, I assume straightforward given the complexity but not everyone uses visual studio etc.

Have fun experimenting!

I tried recreating the issue by intentionally crashing my PC and I got the process priority and CPU state settings stuck. To fix these I ran the tool again with the specified program from the .ini, quit the program, then DARKSTAR.exe.

Updates:
  • Added a build section.
  • Removed the frequency lock setting which was there without any good reason.
  • Added improved C-state disabling and cursor locking with the addition of core scrambling which reduces input lag by a lot on my PC.
However there's a catch: if EnableScramble is set to true, you can only have a good experience when you launch the game and the program for the first time. After you exit, Windows itself starts to stutter and performance in games will also drop significantly.
So right now it's a one-shot solution but if you are fine with having a much improved gaming session as long as you don't quit the game then it's good.

Also I do not encourage anyone to try and use this program and then come to regret it just because of an improper configuration or a lack of willingness to troubleshoot minor issues on their own.

Should people use different default settings for AMD vs Intel?

Most probably no until you run into issues. Auto settings should take care of things like Intel E-cores or Ryzen dual CCDs but manual tuning brought the best results.

Hi does it still work for you?
Thank you , after reading your post & infos about your app(which i didn't use yet) i disabled every turbo & boost mode on cpu in the bios , locked it on the basic frequency of my 9800x3D at 4700mhz and it was such a game changer. i can now alt tab without fps freez and lose. i got globally better hitreg too & maybe 3 perfect games out of 12 on cs 2 which usually happens 1 time a month ! I ve been testing this setting for 4 days.
i think the act of locking the cpu to a more basic freq and usage put him less sensible to bad electricity variation.
something strange , i just played a game where the hitreg wasn't good then i stopped the air conditionning and suddenly it was perfect and amazing. it's not the first time that i have this kind of thing , i will test it more and maybe buy a 500$ filter that someone talked about "ONfilter Cleansweep 15A model"

I don't remember ever recommending using base frequencies but disabling turbo boost and game boosting are considered good by me. Also this whole ONfilter thing seems to be a marketing/scam attempt on this forum. And yes, my own program is working for me :D
I actually made this over half a year ago with different functions and I've been using it for every game because it was simply better even back then.
