Certain games do have some issues with G-SYNC. This specific game has been fairly problematic.

To tell you the truth i'm finding that with more games than not and I'm a little disappointed. For example, I bought Advanced Warfare and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and neither of them work particularly well at all with G-Sync, not smooth at all, so I find myself just using regular v-sync instead. Same goes for Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Assassin's Creed Unity. Where as games such as Sleeping Dogs, Max Payne 3, Tomb Raider and Crysis 3 are smooth as silk.

"PC gamer's can pair their GeForce GTX PCs with NVIDIA G-SYNC monitors for super smooth, stutter free, highly responsive gaming sessions", ironically this quote can be found on the Geforce article for Far Cry 4, which sure as hell isn't the case, at least on my system.

I hear G-Sync doesn't work with Dolphin, is this true? Anyone have more examples of incompatible emulators?

G-Sync activates with Dolphin for me. I haven't done any testing to see how smooth it is though. Any emulator that supports true fullscreen mode using Direct3D or OpenGL should work. Some, especially for older consoles may only support DirectDraw or function in borderless window mode rather than fullscreen.

Adding a few of my experiences to the list to help people verify problems with pcs in comparison to others.

Take note, i test games in a few ways, Vsync+Gsync off+locked at 60fps on 120hz | Vsync On 60hz 60fps | Gsync 60fps lock and Gsync unlocked. I run an i7 4790k @4.5, gtx 980, 8gb RAM all installed on a gaming SSD or HDD.

I also use a 360 pad to pick up stutters more because of the nature of its smooth based motion.

Hitman Absoloution - beautiful smoothness, absoloute charm to play with Gsync, but was a very low tearing game without vsync beforehand! helps with the constant fps fluctuations if on lower rig.

Just cause 2, again beautifully smooth no matter what.

Far Cry 3 - A fucking mess with Gsync, stutters no matter what, only way i get this game running smooth is 60fps lock 60hz vsync on and 1 gpu buffer, but it still stutters randomly as do all fucking ubisoft games (Pardon my language, i despise those morons)

DmC - This one is odd, at 60fps lock gsync 144hz in options there appears to be a tiny tiny stutter panning the camera but its not hugely noticable, unlocked its unnoticable, again im not too sure about this as it seems fine but it might be the stuttering effect of limbo in that game.

Borderlands 2 - Oh boy, at 60fps lock vsync 60hz this game is great, theres no stuttering for me between areas and stuff. But with 60fps lock and unlocked gsync theres a few random stutters on the menu and at the SAME places in every map no matter what, but apart from those its smooth.

Space Marine - vsync super smooth at 60fps 60hz, gsync is great and works fine, sometimes it load stutters but most games do that anyway.

Tomb Raider, never had a problem with any of the settings but unlocked gsync is the best.

Transfomrers Fall Of Cybertron - When i first load the game up it stutters a bit then stops unless just between areas, again really strange. Games hardcoded to 60fps

Dishonoured - Dishonoured same as bl2, stutters at certain areas and doesnt seem greatly smooth constantly at locked 60fps gsync but seems better unlocked gsync.

Hard Reset - weird one, doesnt seem to work great and stutters when it gets closer to 144fps. Does the SAME stutter in the same areas like borderlands 2 and dishonoured if NOT vsynced.

Doom 3 - fine but RARELY got tearing in that game previously.

Alan Wake - Super smooth but never had problems with it just horrible tearing,.

Deus Ex HR was smooth beforehand but if it gets close to 144 it goes SUPER stuttery on Gsync, so mad.

Darkness 2, super smooth, lovely experience.

Bioshock 2 super smoth lovely experience.

RAGE - stutters a lot on gsync, randomly when turning a lot, Vsync 60hz only fix for this abomination,.

Half Life 2 - has stutters at same areas unless vsynced, gsync doesnt fix that, such a low demanding game aswell.

Aliens Colonial Marines - silky smooth after the initial loading of the game on any setting but with area stutters,.

L4D2 super smooooth!

Sniper Elite V2 - no matter what i do this game will always stutter, even with vsync even with gsync, it is a bloody mess!

Resi Evil 6 - Smoothest game so far!

Saints Row 4 - it feels like stutter when i run fast in this game but i really honestly dont know, just a weird experience but its smooth when moving camera stnading still or wal, king around but sprinting i think its mind over matter.

Crysis 2 really didnt like Gsync,. Nor did Crysis 1.

Will test as i do more.

You have some interesting results there and strangely not all of them agree with my experience. It could be because I tested those games with a GTX 760.

I know how you feel. Ubisoft games are always a mess on PC.
I don't recall having stutters in specific areas, but if you use PhysX there's nothing you can do to stop it.
Tomb Raider, never had a problem with any of the settings but unlocked gsync is the best.
Tomb Raider amazed me with how incredibly smooth it runs. I actually played it just before getting the G-Sync upgrade with vsync on and it was still amazingly smooth. Even better with G-Sync of course!
Hard Reset - weird one, doesnt seem to work great and stutters when it gets closer to 144fps. Does the SAME stutter in the same areas like borderlands 2 and dishonoured if NOT vsynced.
It seems to be a problem with Flying Wild Hog's custom game engine. Shadow Warrior has the same problems.
Deus Ex HR was smooth beforehand but if it gets close to 144 it goes SUPER stuttery on Gsync, so mad.
Very strange, I'll have to try that one out.
Bioshock 2 super smoth lovely experience.
It definitely is, though even when I was still using a GTX 760 I could keep it capped at 120 fps at all times so G-sync really isn't necessary. On a side note, the game is based on Unreal Engine 2.5 which does not use multicore rendering and such is not subject to the input lag caused by it. It was one of the first games I played when I got my VG248QE and it gave me the uncanny feeling of the game responding to mouse movements before I made them.
RAGE - stutters a lot on gsync, randomly when turning a lot, Vsync 60hz only fix for this abomination,.
Very strange. I played through RAGE with G-sync @120Hz on my GTX 760 and it ran buttery smooth, though of course locked to 60 fps. I even ended up playing it while my hard drive was being thrashed by another program and despite some textures and sounds taking 10 seconds to load, the game didn't drop a single frame. I don't think any other game engine is capable of that.
Saints Row 4 - it feels like stutter when i run fast in this game but i really honestly dont know, just a weird experience but its smooth when moving camera stnading still or wal, king around but sprinting i think its mind over matter.
My experience with Saints Row 3 and 4 is a bit odd. Saints Row 3 ran very smoothly when I got my VG248QE. Then with the last patch for the game they broke it so on game startup, it forces a 60Hz video mode and you have to go change the resolution in the menu to get the correct refresh rate. Running at 60Hz I do notice some almost imperceptible stuttering like you mentioned. I actually contacted Deep Silver about it and they claimed they couldn't reproduce the bug so it's never been fixed. And of course Saints Row 4 and now Gat Out of Hell inherited the same bug.
Crysis 2 really didnt like Gsync,. Nor did Crysis 1.
I haven't tried Crysis 2 but Crysis works pretty well with G-Sync for me. The game does suffer from a small amount of load stuttering but it's still a big improvement.

You have to disable hyper threading in BIOS. Farcry 3-4 don't play well with it on.

Is already off
unless you're talking unreal 4, how are you playing unreal tourny 4?

Another game i tested today, two actually, Duke Nukem Forever, persistant random stutters, didnt try with gsync off or vsync because the games honestly just dull.

Sleeping Dogs - Besides being hands down one of my favourite games of all time, the game is absoloutely enhanced by GSync, it always ran smoothly without stutters or tearing even with vsync off but the additional fps fluctuations being smoothed out by gsync means playing Sleeping Dogs at the highest graphical fidelity is possible without fps being all over the place and stuttering, so you now have the most beautiful smoothness and graphical quality for this game, a real treat, THIS IS HOW ALL DEVELOPERS should make their games in terms of optimizations, Sleeping Dogs is my favourite game and port in the past 5 years, and heck this isnt even the definitive edition!

Yeh, Sleeping Dogs works really well with G-Sync but funnily enough the Definitive version doesn't, hitches a lot in places yet the standard edition is great. Go figure :p

I have noticed some games seem to have tiny judders in camera panning when fps locked at 60fps with gsync on at 144-120hz, which is odd as it shouldnt technically happen, i find gsync 120hz to be the best, Dishonoured and DmC had these little judders locked at 60fps but went when i unlocked the fps, however borderlands 2 and a lot of other games didnt, go figure,
