Workaround For Single Strobe 50 Hz or 60 Hz
I realize a lot of Blur Busters Forums members are asking for 50 Hz / 60 Hz single-strobe.
It's possible with a software trick built into some software such as some emulators (e.g. MAME).
It's one of the best 50 Hz / 60 Hz strobed when combined with MAME software BFI:
-- Combine 100Hz PureXP+ with 50Hz Software BFI.
-- Combine 120Hz PureXP+ with 60Hz Software BFI.
A future version of Blur Busters Approved may make hardware single-strobing mandatory at 60 Hz, however many manufacturers (including ViewSonic) are resisting adding 60 Hz strobing because of painful flicker. So we have to go with the software work-around to black-out every other refresh cycle. Fortunately, the good news is that XG270 looks good with software-strobe.
XG270 Produces Higher Quality Software BFI Too.
For XG270, it appears to look indistinguishable with hardware-based strobing. It does halve brightness, but the good news is that it doesn't have software-BFI-degradations color artifacts like TN. No color-depth loss, no 6-bit look, no banding, no checkerboard-pixel artifacts, the XG270 looks pretty good with software-based black frame insertion. Nontheless, image-quality-wise, it is one of the better low-persistence MAME LCD panels I have ever seen. Arcade cabinet makers looking for a low-blur LCD may wish to consider the ViewSonic XG270, configure PureXP+ to "Light" (brightest possible), use 120 Hz refresh, and then enable black-frame insertion in MAME. Looks virtually indistinguishable from 60 Hz hardware strobing, but getting much better color gamut. You do get brightness loss but it's not too extreme when using PureXP+ configured to "Light" (latest firmware, coming early next year)

Also, XG270 is firmware upgradeable. It's
possible that single-strobe 60Hz
may be added at a later date upon popular demand. That said, as of November 2019 there was no plan to add hardware-only single-strobe 60 Hz. However, since 4 users just asked me in just 5 days (email, social, here), I have relayed to ViewSonic that there is demand for 60 Hz single strobe. There is no guarantee, as 60 Hz strobe is not currently on the road map. However, ViewSonic is now aware.
