also Forii, are you getting this issue with your MSI? It's identifying my
MSI as Microstep MSI MAG252rx and it says
"selected display is not validated as g-sync compatible". I checked Nvidia website and clearly, the MSI MAG251rx is on that list of g-sync compatibility.
if anyone can help me out or elaborate why my MSI MAG251rx isn't being identified as a certified g-sync compatible monitor despite the nvidia website saying otherwise.
I've updated the Nvidia graphics driver and i don't see any changes.
I also have this note asbout "selected display is not validated as g-sync compatible" lol
but it works in game:

UW are expensive but yeah, those are generally better for photoediting and content creation. I had the 34gk850f-b w/ nano 98% dci p3 133% srgb, and it was excellent. it was just way too slow to play rocket league and the motion blur annoyed me.
be mindful that UWs require a stronger GPU since most good ones are 3460x1440p i believe
Knowing this, would you change your recommendation for monitor? Or sticking with the MAG?

@RLCScontender
You state input lag as +3ms with Gysnc on and 2ms with Gsync off. Is that 3ms or +3ms so a total of 5ms? I'm assuming it's ~3ms total.
Also, I know you did the Alienware AW2521HF tests. Do you have a table for that monitor like the one above?

Yup, once i get free time i will post that later today per your request. The Aw was so fast i had to use my lab oscilloscope to be sure. It's the second fastest 240hz IPS monitor behind the asus vg279qm/vg259qm. That i remember when i had it. The msi ranks just behind it. Aw for sure #1 in g2g average; jowever, the asus is faster at 280hz. So if the asus and the AW were at 240hz, the alienware aw2521hf is faster. However the asus is faster at anything above 240hz. It's the fastest monitor in the world right now.
The +3 means if u turn on g sync, add 3ms of input lag on top of the processing lag and refresh delay. The acer predator xb273 x doesn't have any processing lag so it's 2ms input lag only which ranks #1
However g sync adds about 3ms if u turn it on. I don't see the point of g sync on 240hz monitors imo. If ur FPS exceed the maximum refresh rate, g sync is more of a hinderance and not a benefit since high fps=less input lag
Capping the framerate to 237Hz sucked since on rocket league, im able to get 360-390fps which means im not able to benefit from the reduced input lag at 350+hz if i cap the framerate to 237hz, and v sync sucked too. If i dont turn on v sync, the g sync chip wont synchronize correctly despite limiting the fps to 237hz. The input lag was more of a hinderance than the "invisible" tearing from my own two eyes. (At 240hz refresh, tearing dissipates extremely fast, moreso if ur fps is above 300hz). The only time i saw tearing waS when i had a 60hz monitor. Then again, i only speak for myself. If u notice tearing, then turn on g sync .
Here's my unpopular opinion, adaptive sync is pointless on 240hz monitors in the context of competitive high fps gameplay. To each his own though.(esp. If the fps exxceed the 240hz refresh)

Hi there Im new to this site.
This is a very interesting topic as I am about to buy a new gaming monitor.
I play fast moving FPS and want a fast and ghost free panel. I also like good colors so an IPS panel is what Im looking for.
Money is an issue so Im buying second hand.
Which one is better? Acer XV273X or Asus VG279QM?
i5 3570K, Asus GTX1060 Dual 6GB. Ingame fps: 125

Chief, thanks for the reply on my first thread and the guidance.
Maybe I know what is best in life (Conan movie reference), but after reading 21 pages over the course of these last two days, I realized how clueless I am about new monitors. Terminology is killing me. Had to re-read most of the stuff since used abbrevations in posts explaining technical aspects of monitors were mind boggling.
I'm even afraid to ask this, since I noticed a user named LawlessKai got ignored with a similar question I had in mind.
Anyway, I'm currently on XL2430T Benq monitor that is discontinued but was stated at the time of my purchase as the fastest in all the reviews and tests I could find online. It is 144hz monitor. I remember even having it calibrated since colors out of the box are disgusting.
It served its purpose and still is serving.
I am really competitive gamer mainly playing cs:go (1280x960) around 200-300fps. Also playing quakelive (1440x900) which is max fps capped at 250fps.
Was trying to compare newer Benq models with my XL2430T but it kinda looks the same except the 240hz part. Maybe I'm reading it wrong.
After some time reading recommendations I kinda felt that MAG that is glorified by the thread creator truly is a good choice. But then as I continued reading the thread I noticed it maybe not be a better option than some other TN panels.
Money is not an issue. I was even eyeing viewsonic one approved by blur busters. I don't mind the 27", as RLCSContender said "just sit further away from the screen".
But after reading entire thread and your guys discussion about various subjects regarding monitor quality....I don't even know if I want a new monitor at all.
I feel like I the improvement will be marginal.
Yes I'd like a monitor with better colors so I don't need to use vibrance in order to see more distinguished enemies and what not, but also I want fast response time and more fluid movement of the enemies.
I just don't know what to buy...I am lost.
Should I wait a bit more?
Any information will be highly appreciated as already this entire thread is and all the posts inside.

Acer Predator XB273 x review-----MAY 17th 2020. The only Native G-sync IPS 240hz monitor.
UPDATE
I'm keeping the acer predator xb273 x. The excellent low input lag was more noticeable than the slower pixel response time of 4.3ms because when i compared to to my MSi MAG251rx, i hardly noticed any difference in practice(although the MSI MAG251rx was slightly more clear due to a 3ms g2g average.
I graphed out the data @ 60hz native refresh rate input lag for the MSI MAG251rx and i got about
25ms input lag(2.4ms input lag at 240hz). Keep in mind, 25ms is above average becuase if you compare it to the Asus VG279qm/VG259qm the input lag @60gz that i graphed out is around 37-40ms. Difference is the g2g average is still 3ms @60hz, but because the refresh rate is lower, it's not as CLEAR compared to 240hz. Higher refresh gives better motion clarity regardless of g2g average.
yes, the Acer Predator/Acer Nitro(THEY ARE ALL THE SAME PANEL) although on the slow end on PEAK performance, the ridiculously low input lag make up for it(2ms for the predator, 1.6ms for the acer nitro xv273x).Both also have excellent input lag at 144hz and 60hz, at around 13ms. That may not sound "good" but if you compare it to the asus(40ms the worst i've measured) and the MSI(25ms), i was able to play Smash bros ultimate wayyyyy better on the acer predator 240hz ips.
tlld;lr
it all comes down to what you value the most. Peak performance vs low input lag. I'm keeping both the MSI(peak performance) ANd the predator(low input lag) and i will not return either monitor. I will have to flip a coin in the next 4-5 months when the 360hz alienware IPS monitor come out on which i should sell.

If it is the only true G-Sync 240Hz IPS panel, wouldn't the XB253Q GX follow suit?
