Hey Axaro, This might be a little off subject but I’ll do my best in trying to keep this post short and simple. I purchased a vg259qm in December when it went on sale to replace my XG2402. Mind you I mainly play FPS games valorant being my go to. After a good month of use age and really researching the monitorI came to the conclusion something wasn’t right. I felt as if I was missing a lot of shots, my bullets not registering etc. well tonight I happened to stumble across your post about the asus monitor and how you mentioned how you performed much better after going back to the xg2402. So I went ahead and did the same thing and oh my you were 100% correct. I’m super bummed about the monitor due to me really wanting a new upgrade but after my first game back on the xg2402 I was absolutely destroying enemies hitting everything I had previously not been able to. I’m going to go ahead and return the monitor but what would you suggest I do in terms of upgrading now. Really appreciate the post/feed back
Definitely get the XL2546K.

The thing is that the XG2402 is insanely fast in terms of G2G with just 2.9ms in a 7.2ms refresh window(1000ms/144=7.2ms) , so only 40% of the window is occupied by a completely overshoot free pixel transition.

When you upgrade to the VG259QM you definitely notice better smoothness and slightly lower input lag, both at 240 and 280hz, but these two refresh rates have respectively 88% and 103% (yes, it cannot complete the average transition at 280hz) with it's overshoot free overdrive, once you crank up the overdrive you immediately notice that 10%+ overshoot on IPS panels can be extremely bad unless it's restricted to a single pixel transition.

The XL2546K is 1.7ms of G2G with AMA High (which is without a doubt the best overdrive) so 40% of each refresh is occupied by a pixel transition.

Means the XL2546K is better in motion blur handling than the VG259QM? since I did use the VG259QM and can notice blur and smearing sometimes with OD120.. on around 200+ fps or so~, but it is definitely smoother than 165Hz even on 160~ fps ;-;

Yes, the Benq is a little bit better in motion handling.

The VG259QM itself is not a bad monitor, it's probably on par with first gen 240hz TN in terms of G2G, if you come from a 60hz or a 144hz IPS it may be a good upgrade but if you used a very fast sub 4ms G2G 144hz TN it will not feel like an upgrade in terms of motion clarity.

Actually Im coming from the XL2430T which is 144Hz, and am using as my primary the ASUS PG279Q..

So am undecided lol

Hello, I am the owner of xl2546s, and I really do not like the quality of the matrix, viewing angles and so on, but I really like the response of the monitor. Does it make sense for me to upgrade to 2546k, or 2540k (I don't need g-sync and dyac)
if you don't need Dyac, try the XL2540K. I've heard that it has better colors and contrast than the XL2546K/XL2546S.

hey man, appreciate your tips and info here, since i'm very interested in getting this monitor (or 2746S) ,

I have kind of specific game scenario question, so when playing FPS games it is ofc best to have the crosstalk-free area to be in central part of monitor, where crosshair will be etc,

but in my case I play a lot of sports games like FIFA and there the action can be on top area of monitor as well as bottom, depends where the ball is at the moment and what camera setting is used etc, but in general we can say something like this,

so I have few questions:

do you play any sports games like Fifa/NHL/etc or similar games other than FPS games perhaps? if so could you try to explain to me how you experience the crosstalk during gaming in the top/bottom monitor area?

if not, any chance you could perhaps download demo of FIFA 21 or something or pro evolution soccer and tell me if you notice any crosstalk at all when the ball goes from one side of pitch to the other and top/center/bottom of pitch etc? (sports games are not as fast as FPS games of course but the camera can still swing pretty fast from end to end depending on the action)

and if that is not possible for you to test, could you tell me at least if its possible for you to notice the crosstalk on top/bottom monitor area in FPS games at all? (i'm assuming its perfect in the center always yes?) or do you only see it in the test? did you notice a big improvement in the crosstalk in games after your VT tweaks/strobe utility tweaks? or was it mostly just in the test itself?

/end of questions :D

for what its worth i'm using and playing with ancient asus vg248qe for like 10 years now  with strobing at 120 hz / 120 fps or 120 hz/240 fps+ depending on game, and the strobing quality is extremely good on top and center area, slight coronas and afterimage on bottom part but this is never noticeable ingame,

thing is now I want to update to a modern 240+hz monitor with lower input lag/better colors/etc and just don't want to be disappointed with strobing quality or that I will now notice crosstalk where I did not notice it before, etc...

sorry for long post ! appreciate any answer, cheers !

I do play Fifa 19 sometime, due to the camera always shifting and being centered to where the player with the ball is located it is hard to notice crosstalk.

I just watched a Fifa 21 gameplay and even when the player with the ball is on the bottom side of the pitch the crosstalk zones are out of the area where the players are located.
So if you don't mind having some crosstalk on the linesman or the crowd you should be fine, the entire pitch is crosstalk free

I don't really notice any crosstalk when playing fps games, the improvements from large VT are very minor due to the limited max VT headroom.

The strobe Utility does help a lot.

Some games benefit more than some others from Dyac, it is a very noticeable improvement in R6s (due to completely eliminating recoil shaking blur and quick peaking).

The more I play with Dyac the better I realize that it does not improve your aim compared to Dyac OFF, the real benefits are spatial awareness and spray control, you will be able to notice that enemy peaking from an angle or hiding behind cover while you move your camera or sprint.

I see, thank you! very very helpful information for me !

sounds great for my fifa then! about VTs, did you ever test the 182/185hz large VT trick described on this site? could not see that you made a video or screenshot with that, maybe I missed it, as that would be very interesting to see imo the result on the testufo strobe crosstalk test (the big one with ufos from top to bottom) any chance for a test video with that 182/185 hz trick with big VTs? again sorry if you already posted it somewhere!

also, I guess last questions if you have time and energy for this request in near future (no stress etc) would be, what are your current/optimized strobe utility settings and also color settings / profile in the OSD menu on monitor ?

(do you use fps mode, standard mode, what did you set R-G-B to etc?)

whenever you have some time left over in near future if you could write down ur current settings (maybe gaming settings vs desktop/movie settings if u are using separate ones? etc) because it would be cool to test them myself later on, or at least have some reference point, since of course there can be differences between individual panels even on same monitor model..

anyway thanks again and appreciate it so far either way!
