Sorry for late reply. reddit/r/OLED/comments/ga9rd1/lg_c9_weird_oval_at_different_levels_of_gray/ I am talking about something like this.RealNC wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025, 20:48I don't know if this is the same thing you're describing, but on my end I can see something like that when viewing SDR content in HDR mode, which means Windows 10/11 messes up the gamma and dark colors look completely wrong.bustmyblur wrote: ↑05 Jun 2025, 15:08There is a gray oval shape in certain near black scenes in the center of the screen. Is that normal or something I can disable? There is also a annoying grayish outline around bright lights in near black (like stars in Elite Dangerous) so that might be related.

Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Yes this is a weird problem with this monitor. Boot-up menu (which is probably impossible to burn-in) image retents or you see Windows Clock in grey scenes. It sometimes fixes it by just restarting. I found that starting the monitor with lower brightness helps with this.HGBowling wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 13:56Anyone else has a problem with image retention? Sometimes I get image retention, or is it a form of burn in?, but it's very strange, because the elements that stay on the screen are images that only were on screen for a (very) short time, like the ASUS start up logo, or the QR code on the Gaming tab in the OSD of the monitor (while elements that are on screen for a much longer time, like gaming UI's don't have retention...)... So I would be surprised if it really is burn in...
Friend has the same monitor and he has the exact same issue from time to time.
A pixel cleaning sometimes helps, but sometimes it doesn't.
We have a suspicion it's a bug when turning on the monitor (and in which order you turn on the monitor: before or after booting the computer), but we're not sure...
Had an LG CX OLED for four years now, and never had a problem like this...

This issue isn't present on all monitors, mine for example hasn't shown any image retention from booting or anything. I think you guys may have defective monitorsbustmyblur wrote: ↑30 Jun 2025, 10:08Yes this is a weird problem with this monitor. Re: Asus XG27AQDMG Discussion
Hey there, thought I might chime back in after using the monitor for half a year now.
All in all I'm very happy with it! even after half a year I'm still finding myself in awe because of the colors sometimes when playing games or watching content.
I decided to revert back to default settings pretty immediately after trying them out and I'm very content with them, I like my colors more saturated anyway so no problem for me with Wide Gamut, and for gaming 240hz is just too nice, was one of the main arguments for me to buy (upgrading from 144hz) so wasn't planning on reducing that either.
I have to say I notice some banding here and there, for example on this page in the right and left lower corner there is just a bit of banding I noticed, or when loading a grey page it's kinda visible but that's mostly only for greyish content that takes up the whole display, so it's actually pretty much never an issue.
Black crush is pretty much not a problem as well, since I'm just using wide gamut color space (I can see up to 3. pretty easily on black level test and when it's dark outside and the reflections are gone 1. and 2. is visible as well) and when something's too dark while gaming I just activate the shadow boost feature (but that's actually only necessary in very dark games, my friends do have trouble then as well, it's not just me because of the monitor).
As for burn-in I haven't noticed any yet, and I'm using my oled pretty much for everything, so coding or writing homework is something I do pretty often on it as well as browsing the web. I do have to say tho I have taken care of some "optimizations" for oled use, such as disabled the taskbar, everything in dark mode (my default anyway lol), dark wallpaper, monitor standby timer in windows to 5 mins, and switched to a pretty much "fullscreen only" browser (Zen, big fan) as I do use it a lot (youtube, twitch, other browsing) to minimize static symbols there as well (I have to say it seems to be the perfect "oled browser" in that regard). As for oled care, I have only enabled screen move on strong, as every other setting was bugging me, and my stats are 1500h usage and 500 pixel clean cycles, seems pretty good to me, especially as I never do them manually, they just seem to activate while I do some longer breaks and the monitor gets into sleep after 5 mins, sure sometimes it's on for more hours before it does a pixel cleaning cycle while other times they happen more closely to each other, but on average it's pretty good. (btw disabled the reminder because it was pretty annoying, especially since it wasn't working correctly)
So yeah, these are my thoughts about the Asus, I'm still very happy with my purchase. If anybody has read this and noticed something I could try to optimize here and there for more longevity or performance feel free to tell my right away!
Thank you for reading ^^

Hi,
Just got the monitor and following the settings recommendations. Quick question though, is gamma 2.2 ideal for 240hz or only 120hz?
Also, dumb question about novideo_srbg question: It was stated that the application clamp for SDR persists through reboot, and we don't have to select "run at startup" ...does that mean launch it once, clamp, and then never open it again or do I have to start the application each time and make sure it's running?

you can just use ACM - Automatic Color Management in win11.LuckyKnight wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025, 10:22Hi,

personally I prefer do not use ACM or novideo_srgb, set Wide Gamut in Display Color Space (monitor settings) saturation on 46, and gamma 2.0

I use 2.2 at 240hz, can still see sq 2 on Lagom's test. And yes, you can set and forget novideo_srgb IF you don't use HDR. It will apply the same settings when booting up each time. But you need to disable it for HDR, which is why I have it pinned to my taskbar.LuckyKnight wrote: ↑22 Jul 2025, 10:22Hi,

Will changed max frame-avg to match and max luminance and setting min to 0 or leave it empty mess up my monitor in any way?
I noticed that my LG C2 has both numbers matching and the bottom section empty.

Windows HDR calibration overrides the same values anyway, but no it won't mess up your monitor. There is a tool to reset all settings in the CRU folder incasePointsintostrength wrote: ↑06 Aug 2025, 18:41Will changed max frame-avg to match and max luminance and setting min to 0 or leave it empty mess up my monitor in any way?
