Re: [HOWTO!] 360hz in a 250FPS locked game

I play CS2, and I am on the 360Hz XL2566K panel using custom resolution, essentially 1920x1080@250Hz with large VT (QFT trick). I used CRU for that + set to display scaling in NVCP.

My rational behind doing so is following. My 1% lows average around 250 fps + I do play with DyAc+ enabled. I thought even in a game like CS2 that has an unlocked in-game fps limiter, it would be beneficial for me to at least run: Hz = 1% fps low (despite unlocked fps). Because of the refreshrate headroom going from 360Hz --> to 250Hz and thus, delivering the singal in 1/360 seconds (instead of 1/250 sec) using the QFT trick while reducing the strobe lag and increasing motion clarity. Another thought was improved refreshrate compliance at 250Hz QFT vs max Hz. Since my panel now has 1000/250 = 4ms time for every GtG transition, while before at Max Hz it only had 1000/360 = 2.78 ms.

However, I am using VSYNC OFF + GSYNC OFF, because it behaves weird in CS2, it adds about 3-4 ms of total end-to-end input latency EVEN when setting:
VSYNC ON + GSYNC ON + Reflex ON + fps limit = Max Hz. I tested this using both Reflex Analyser and CapeframeX.

Hence, my question is DOES IT MAKE SENSE for my use-case to run uncapped fps, but with Hz = 1% low fps + QFT trick for reduced strobing lag (=large VT 250Hz) and better refresh compliance? Or is it all nonsense and I should just run the game at native max Hz (=360)?

I think I need to adjust the strobe area after changing from 360Hz to QFT 250Hz using the strobe utility to shift the higher lag area to below my crosshair (center of the screen). However, at QFT 250Hz I am not exactly sure what the best strobe area should be set to in the utility. I feel my eyes cant clearly distinguish the tear line very well. Any suggestions? Anyone on the XL2566K run 250Hz QFT with strobing?

Thank you massively in advance.

cant you bypass quake fps cap by using losseless scaling app on steam, and running quake in borderless windowed, and capping fps to half your refresh rate of monitor?

You can but it will increase input latency by a lot. https://youtu.be/69k7ZXLK1to?t=451
