looks like asus xg27aqdmg have same problem with DSC on. It's good that you can turn it off, but without it hdr colors looks bad (other than that, I only use it in single player games)
Only at 240Hz. Without DSC, it's limited to 240Hz 8-bit. But uou can still use 180Hz 10-bit with DSC disabled.

that's a good point, for singleplayer games 180hz is more than enough

The downside is that the 180Hz mode in this monitor is broken when VRR is enabled  You need to disable VRR or else you get weirdness where a) VRR isn't really working even though all indicators say it does, and b) every third frame stays on the screen longer. Contacting support to report the issue only results in generic "have you tried Windows update and have you tried turning it on and off again" and such.

I was actually that guy back in 2023 asking about DSC, and funny enough I ended up searching about it again now because I just got a new 360Hz XG27ACDNG. Been using it for about a week — looks fine and smooth overall — but in shooters I started to feel something weird that I can’t fully explain.

Before this, I had been grinding on my 7-year-old MSI FHD IPS while waiting for the 360Hz QD-OLED. Honestly, I was tapping heads way easier on that old panel compared to this OLED. Not sure if it’s my skill, my eyes adjusting to 2K res, or something else, but I can definitely say there’s something off with OLEDs in competitive shooters. That’s what keeps pushing me back to the idea that maybe DSC (or something about OLED processing) is doing something in Valorant or other shooters.

The weird part is — when I turned off DSC on this new monitor, my aim actually felt better and I was landing shots more like I did on the old IPS. That’s what keeps pushing me back to the idea that maybe DSC (or something about OLED processing) really is doing something in Valorant or other shooters.

I hope you realise that not a single person in this thread has given concrete proof which confirms DSC has “problems” or has a input latency penalty.
Your anecdote is only an anecdote and cannot be taken as concrete evidence, nor can r0ach's rambling in someone's discord DM's.
There are multiple variables at play when you discuss these differences, it's not a single variable like you think it is.

All of this is easily verifiable with microsecond precision input latency testing, akin to flood's old thread.
These are the articles I've come across which mention the total latency increase:
1st article (claims the difference is 50ns (0,5µs))
2nd article (claims ~3µs)
Can it be more? Yes, the room is open for interpretation
I personally, without any sources to back my claims up, think it's well below <10µs in terms of overall impact on the processing latency chain.
There are much larger fish to catch on the system latency pipeline when you're tuning digital systems to be analog-like.

Hi, I'm new to these forums but noticed you have the monitor I'm looking at getting and I'm worried about DSC affecting me negatively. When you disabled DSC. Were you still able to do 360Hz with 8-bit color depth (Since that should be under the bandwidth limit for HDMI 2.1)? Or were you locked out of some options on your display? If you're able to give me any insight on this it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

hi bro the issue apprently is when u have DSC on and its above ur refresh rate so it was only in vALORANT everytime i turn it off i go insane mode and ez click heads But when i have it on It just like so heavy or not smooth idk what u call it anyway When you limt ur fps to ur refresh rate instead of going 1k fps in valorant with dsc on it will feel the same as it is off so it was only a highh fps issue idk if ppl know about it but i notice it But It is fine in tarkov and any other game sm ooth as butter And Yeah no one talk about it igeuss im the only one who know about it

Im using the acer xv240f6 (600hz with dsc/10bit) and it has the OSD option to enable/disable dsc and i didnt notice any latency/feeling difference between the two. I think on this monitor its well implemented.

Saw some random guy asking questions about DSC. He knows absolutely nothing about monitors to the point where he basically doesn't even know what overdrive is yet he instantly noticed having DSC on is bad.
DSC = Display Stream Compression; that's all I'd need to know about it to be figuring out how to instantly disable that

Compression implies decompression somewhere which sounds like more latency than not doing the process. And why would I want anything compressed to the display to have it potentially muddied out to my eyes?
