BenQ XL2420G Release Info

Talk about NVIDIA G-SYNC, a variable refresh rate (VRR) technology. G-SYNC eliminates stutters, tearing, and reduces input lag. List of G-SYNC Monitors.

Yes, you can switch the Engine with one touch button on the monitor. It's easy. Would be better if the S-Switch worked with G-sync though.

EDIT: I just tried playing Crysis 3 with FPS capped at 45. It was very smooth. Nothing quite like the fluidity of 144hz + 144 fps, but no stutters or anything annoying.
Thanks for the reply. Indeed, most of those games aren't that intensive. I have an i7 3770 and 780Ti, mostly fluctuating from 40 to 55-60 fps with all settings maxed generally, but stuttering is a very annoying problem that I'd like to get fixed with GSYNC.

How are the colors, by the way? I have an IPS screen right now, I know that by switching back to a TN I would lose some quality but if GSYNC really works as advertised than I'd do it.

Coming from a Dell Ultrasharp H-IPS panel, I have absolutely no complaints now. They were horrible at first in Classic mode without Display Pilot + Standard preset, but it's fairly easy to get them to look great. In G-sync mode they look good right away. I just bump the digital vibrance slightly.

Do you think the XL2420G will be $530 again during Black Friday?

I e-mailed BenQ a few days ago, asking when it would become available in Denmark, Europe.

Here's the reply I got:

"Thanks for asking! Today I have no confirmed date when we will launch this product in Denmark or Europe (launch will be at the same time across Europe). Target is during Q1 2015."

Then I asked about the XL2420G release date and got this reply:

"Plan is during December

The design will be same as current Z-series (XL2420Z) but with GSync added"

Forget 40 to 55-60 your going to need to be turning down all that eye candy because 144Hz G sync is as smooth as butter if the game is properly coded :)

Could you let me know what email address you used? I've tried reaching them without any success so far.

Thanks!

Wish they release a G-sync upgrade kit for us XL-Z series users. But that will be unlikely. ;)

Argh, can't you read PM in here when you're new? What's the reasoning behind that rule?

Anyway, I suppose the Benq guy's e-mail address is not exactly top secret, hush hush, for your eyes only etc. :)

This is true, being able to have 130+ fps is amazing with 144hz, but trust me, even with low FPS, the experience is drastically different with G-sync. There is absolutely no stutter at lower fps.
