Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
Strobemaster, if you wind up picking up one of these screens, can you find out if the XL2730Z firmware can be flashed into the XL2735? The asking price for this monitor is absurd. Is "DyAc" simply "blur reduction plus adaptive voltage overdrive" or something?

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
First I would have to succeed in programming the firmware in the first place. Anyway, it is unlikely that I will buy the XL2735. Even if all the issues were fixed and some new goodies came with it, I still would have to convince myself that the AG coating is actually not as bad as it looks - but it is. Nevertheless, I am also curious why this monitor is so expensive - "DyAc" must be the Holy Grail, or something like it.Falkentyne wrote:Strobemaster, if you wind up picking up one of these screens, can you find out if the XL2730Z firmware can be flashed into the XL2735? BTW, apparently the XL2735 does not have the VGA port anymore, so it might use a different PCB as compared to the XL2730, which might make the firmware incompatible anyway.

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
Ugh I keep forgetting about the lack of a VGA port
Hmm I wonder if the RT809f can dump firmware of Gsync monitors? I remember the first Gsync monitors didn't even have HDMI ports.
If Chief blur buster doesn't contact Benq and have them release a firmware with the single strobe option in the service menu, I guess I won't touch this panel at all
Anyway thank you again for your debugging the LG 24GM77 monitor. Someone was asking about that in the General section and I had to mention the banding issue.

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
So is here anybody user experience of zowie dynamic accuracy and old benq blur reduction?
Is zowie dynamic accuracy better or worse? Are there any crosstalk at 144hz?

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
So far, the only thing we know is, VT tweaks work again.
The monitor seems to use similar strobing code as the XL2720Z, rather than the broken code of the XL2730Z.
VT tweaks work up to VT 1825 now. 100hz strobing works again and the monitor seems to function like the XL2720Z with "Single Strobe=off". It single strobes from 100hz to 144hz, it double strobes from 60hz to 85hz, which is identical to XL2720Z with SS=off.
But there is no single strobe setting in the XL2735 I'm complaining about that (as you already know), I hope Chief tells benq to release a firmware to force or enable single strobe option for 60hz-85hz.
Double strobe looks worse than no blur reduction at all....

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
So tech doesn't change and it's just renamed benq blur reduction? :/

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
Seems to me they put funny ears on a XL2730 and "improved" strobing so it's in line with the 1080p models. Well, with the omission of the ability to force single strobing.
And of course, decided to charge an arm and a leg for it.
The real money shot would be if strobing is achievable under 144hz without it being crosstalk city. Well, the only real advantage over BBR on the 1080p models. I'm not hearing any confirmation on this though and I'm beginning to think we'll not hear it. Is this monitor anything more than a funny gimmick? Did BenQ realize they didn't market around BBR enough in the past, so now they just gave it a new name and are pushing it aggressively?
Falk, why do you want this monitor so much? What's wrong with your XL2720? I'd be eyeing the upcoming 240hz models instead if I were you.

I take it this is an improvement over the XL2730? If it is, it's probably accidental due to a new scaler rather than a conscious decision. If they aimed for less crosstalk, they'd aim to achieve it without having to create custom resolutions.VT tweaks work up to VT 1825 now

Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
Because I'm bored and want new hardware to toy around with and I ordered a firmware flasher from China and I'm itching for something to brick!
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-sh ... 16644.html
And no--the XL2730Z *ACCEPTED* VT tweaks (the scalar is the same as the XL2735, but the XL2735 scalar is called 2796RB instead of 2796B), but VT Tweaks did NOT reduce crosstalk whatsoever on the XL2730, and 100hz strobing was broken. XL2735, VT tweaks reduce crosstalk and strobing functions like the 1080p monitors did....(Single strobe 100-144hz, double strobe 60-85hz).
I'm also in serious trouble IRL with my housing situation and it's gotten even worse and I clearly can't talk about that. But it's possible, depending on what happens *in the next few days* that I could wind up with NO permanent place to live (basically, homeless), because my section 8 voucher completely expired. And it expired because of a malicious apartment manager who lied and changed her story about having an apartment and even letting me PAY A DEPOSIT FOR IT and then when it's time to sign the final papers for request for tenancy approval, suddenly "It's not available anymore"?
There's going to be a lawsuit HOPEFULLY under discrimination based on race or people with physical disabilities, but that's not going to help my current situation right now regarding the Section 8 voucher that will expire TUESDAY if I don't find an apartment to rent by then. And not only must I find a place to rent, they have to ACCEPT me within two days AND be willing to sign the paperwork for submission. Good luck with that.
You get the point now, I think (I can't afford to rent any apartment WITHOUT section 8 assistance because the rent is too high--my monthly check is from SSI disability, and I was screwed over and lied to by the apartment manager at Canyon Oak apartments).
I'm screwed and need something to toy with. Like a new monitor.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT THE XL2735 IS. FIX THE XL2730Z STROBING, take benq blur reduction and MARKET IT under a new name, THEN FORGET TO INCLUDE THE SINGLE STROBE low refresh rate option on top of it!Is this monitor anything more than a funny gimmick? Re: Zowie Dynamic Accuracy preview
Can you adjust the blur reduction/DyAc brightness on the XL2735 like on the XL2720Z? I like strobing but not if the screen is too dark

Yes. But all of the blur reduction settings are in the service menu. DyAc is always on unless you go in the service menu and turn it off. And there's no single strobe override setting for <100hz, but I think we know that by now...
