Hey Cheif - Just wanted to say my BENQ 24" Z Series monitor is shipping now and it's all because of what I read on this website. Thanks a lot for all the help. Can't wait to see what 144hz is like

Look forward to hearing your impressions --
Did you order from BENQ's website, or from another vendor?
You are purchasing a unit that you know has Version 2 firmware, I presume?

There is no way of knowing what firmware you are going to get right? Unless you buy directly from the american BENQ site? It's not like you can see the firmware version on the box? If you are in europe there is no way to get a guaranteed version 2?

Yeah, I ordered straight from them. I'm assuming since it was back-ordered that I have the most recent version of it.

Yep. The
BENQ XL Z-Series link on BlurBusters has been assured to me directly from BENQ USA as shipping with Version 2. The backorder was because they were holding them back to upgrade V1 to V2 before shipping. So once it ships, it's definitely Version 2.

Hey Chief blur burster
I got my 2720Z V2 in today from Benq. I ran your utility and I haven't done the 1350 trick yet (I think it's trickier on AMD radeon cards since you have to use CRU?), but I was able to adjust the ghosting band so it's as clear as possible in the center, just like lightboost.
This screen is massive, and I don't see any of that weird checkerboard type gird thing that I saw in lightboost mode on my vg248qe, or faintly (at top right mostly) at 144 hz.
Thanks for writing the utility.
So the 1350 vertical trick helps limit the top and bottom edge ghosting?

Yep, it shrinks the thickness of the ghosting band at the top/bottom edges.
You're welcome in regards to the utility!
How much better is the colors compared to LightBoost, by the way?
Feel free to post a separate thread detailing "VG248QE versus BENQ XL2720Z" experiences, if you'd like!

I've been lurking this site for a while and wanted to make my first post to say thanks for helping me decide on this monitor. I've got a new r9 280x so I currently have no use for gsync, but desperately wanted a high refresh lcd and wasn't willing to wait for Freesync to become available.
Placed my order last night after confirming from BenQ that they're now shipping out the v2s, and I can't wait.

Chief:
1500 vertical total works GREAT at 100 hz on 2720z, by the way.
Will 1600 work or will it break something? the pixel bandwidth is 352, just slightly less than the 1350 vertical total at 120 hz (356'ish).
