Anyone have a clue on what the return/RMA policy is at ViewSonic. I want to know if this panel has a better motion blur reduction than MAG251RX. Also the MAG251RX has an 8-bit panel and this one has a 6-bit panel.

Also waiting for a reviewer's response/pixel time measurements especially since ViewSonic quoted a 1ms in their YouTube interview vid.

Hope they don't go out of stock.

If you want really low crosstalk 60hz I would suggest creating a custom 60hz mode in windows that can actually take advantage of the panels max scanout speed. Mark has made guides on how to do this.

Big difference in strobe performance between native 60hz and 60hz with an accelerated scanout.

Sonic mania on the pc should be extremely clean with the right setup.
Good to know. My test case in this instance was specifically using a console to gauge performance outside of the PC space. If it can get even better if I make a custom resolution, that's fantastic, because it's already great.

I typically play fps and currently have an aw2721d. While I do love the 1440p for work and general viewing, apex for example only plays at 189 fps without stuttering so I think I could gain better clarity with the XG2431 strobing?

27 vs 24 I don't think will be a dealbreaker?

I had a Viewsonic xg2402 before my current Aw2721d and while only 144hz it is still my second monitor and was pretty good when it was my primary. The price on this new one is in the right spot too.

Anybody got any thoughts on if this is going to dethrone Dyac for clarity at 1080p?

It does get even better at 60 Hz!

The XG2431 supports Vertical Total 4500 with Strobe Utility (quadruple the vertical total of 240 Hz). This will go zero crossralk for practically the full screen height.

Chief, would you say 240hz strobing on the XG2431 is as good as DyAc+ or better? Close to it? I'm very much interested in that aspect given how much more versatile this monitor's strobing capabilities are, not to mention it's an IPS and not a TN panel.

Would do say this is a worthwhile upgrade for the VG248QE? I play mostly FPS games on the Series X (already get 120hz w/ HDMI to DVI adapter) and some PC here and there.

VG248QE? That’s an oldie.

Monitors such as the XG2431 and even VG259QM are already an upgrade relative to a nearly ten year old monitor, and the XG2431 is one of the few 240Hz panels with super low 60Hz and 120Hz latency, plus you get access to strobing or VRR with consoles.

Excellent. Thank you :)
It’s an oldie, but it still holds up pretty well!

I am disappointed. :? I live in Spain.
Hopefully at some point they distribute the monitor here.

Had some more free time tonight. Trip report on trying to set up large vertical totals

CRU failed me every time. Maybe I've just forgotten how to use it correctly, but I'd muck about with the numbers until I had something @ 60hz with a high vertical total, at or under the pixel clock of the highest supported refresh rate, and it would actually cause my computer to crash as soon as the graphic driver rebooted with that resolution data in the table. It took quite a few attempts of booting into safe mode to get back to a point where I could use the reset-all and restart the graphics driver to get back to a functional operating system.

I switched gears to using the built in NVIDIA custom resolution utility, which was much more user friendly. It took a few seconds to set up a 60hz resolution with a vertical total of 4000. For this, I did need the viewsonic strobe utility in order to configure a custom PureXP+ mode. With a tiny bit of experimentation, I found a good mix of settings that gave a nearly flawless image with barely any visible strobe crosstalk over the entire screen, and no corona effects. From there it was a matter of adjusting the pulse width to find a good balance of motion clarity vs screen brightness.

I decided to grab yet another copy of Sonic Mania (already owning the original version on switch, the plus edition on PS4, and now the full game on PC...)...and it was a night and day difference compared to my experience playing it on switch, where you have no access to custom resolution tools. The slight imperfections of the backlight strobing were already barely perceptible in the UFO test, but in real world content like Sonic Mania with a wide variety of colors and scrolling speeds, I couldn't detect any cross talk.

Thank you, Chief. This monitor is great. I'm really happy you pushed for the feature set it has. The next reasonable step I can imagine would perhaps be some sort of built in high vertical total function to be able to achieve this level of clarity outside of PCs with custom resolutions...
