If the past in any indication, when Asus announces a display (without a specific release date) and when it actually goes to market, the results have been inconsistent. Sometimes they release it quickly, other times they go months without even mentioning it on social media, almost like they've forgotten about it. Unfortunately for this display, it's looking like the latter.

The good news is that we should get some info about the Zowie 2566K soon because the contest to win a free unit is ending in a week.
product launch in October see https://zowie.benq.com/content/dam/game ... 4.2022.pdf

dyac is very good. i swear by it. also cause the screen dont take any hits in brightness. the Acer 390 hz with bfi on darkens the screen. Playing games on a darkened screen is a HUGE handicap.

some are sensitive to it and can get headaches. I had to get used to it. In the beginning i had some headaches MAYBE caused by the screen. but when i got used to the screen they went away,

According to a new leak, Alienware is preparing its fastest desktop gaming monitor to date. Twitter’s Chi11eddog shared an image of a purported Alienware AW2524H today, an IPS monitor with a claimed 500 Hz refresh rate. The seasoned leaker added that this alluring and stylish gaming monitor will be officially unveiled at CES 2023, which kicks off next week.

Seems like this monitor is now the Asus ROG Swift Pro PG248QP. Will be coming in Q2 2023. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/asus- ... rs-ces2023
Toms Hardware wrote:Earlier this year, AUO demoed laptop and desktop displays featuring 480 Hz Twisted Nematic (TN) panels. However, Asus is going above and beyond with its new Swift Pro PG248QP, which also uses a TN panel, but cranks the refresh rate to 540 Hz when overclocked.

The Swift Pro PG248QP has a 24-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution and supports Nvidia G-Sync adaptive sync technology and the Nvidia Reflex Analyzer for measuring system latency. But unfortunately, Asus didn’t provide any information on the native refresh rate for the panel or other pertinent specs like response time, typical/maximum brightness, or contrast ratio.

However, Asus points out that the Swift Pro PG248QP features what it calls “retractable claws” for the monitor base that can swing inward or outward based on customer preference. According to the company, the rotating base “[frees] up desktop space for players who prefer their keyboard and mouse closer to the monitor.”

Putting aside the panel itself (I do hope Zowie will release their own monitor with this panel), I'm interested but skeptical concerning the DAC contained in the monitor.

They say it is a USB DAC with "near zero latency", which sounds like marketing schlock, but who knows. 3 years ago I bought several PCI-E audio cards (yes, they still exist) - which actually use USB, despite being connected over PCI - as well as some popular USB DACs (topping, schiit) and tested their latency in games. To give you the quick version, all of them were slower than onboard motherboard audio, the fastest being the "Creative AE-9" in "direct mode", which was only about 5ms slower than mobo audio. For comparison, Topping and Schiit were 30-50ms behind the mobo DAC.
Google says Asus has a couple of USB DAC products already, so chances are the one in the monitor will be one of those.

Also I have to wonder about strobing with this 540z TN. I didn't see them mention it anywhere.

Do you remember maybe, which bitrate and khz you've been using with the AE-9 (default is 24bit 192khz in Direct Mode)?
And is the "Direct Mode" faster than the none direct mode in terms of latency?

thank you!
