And by when can you see good overdrive 1920x1080 480hz monitors? Isn't 480hz at 1080 the same as 120hz at 4k? Why isn't 480hz at 1080 just around the corner?

What exactly does overdrive do for clarity?

Not answering anymore 480Hz questions till tonight's review.

But will answer overdrive question:

Back in the 33ms monitor days 20 years ago, overdrive made a massive improvement to LCD motion clarity.

You see, in the Bad Old LCD days, motion clarity often became much clearer whenever you enabled overdrive, since it helped push GtG to sub-refresh-cycle levels.

With 1ms response TN LCDs, it doesn't matter as much anymore in the world of 16.7ms refresh cycles (60Hz) or the 8.3ms refresh cycles (120Hz). You see ghosting changes, like those in LCD Overdrive Artifacts, but motion clarity is often essentially unchanged nowadays.

Strobing was needed to kill eye-tracking motion blur, and that made LCD pixel response (GtG) important again. because you needed good overdrive to speed up the pixel response to be squeezed into the blanking interval between refresh cycles (to reduce strobe crosstalk). As seen in high speed videos of LightBoost, fast GtG is important for strobe backlights.

Now, fast GtG is also important for ultrahigh Hz, too. In the refresh rate stratosphere of 240Hz and 480Hz, overdrive matters more again due to how close GtG-times are to refresh cycle-times. Good GtG is needed in the Hertz stratosphere, and good overdrive makes imperfect GtG more perfect. It is also why IPS 120->165Hz jump difference is smaller (almost no clarity change) than TN 165Hz->240Hz jump (bigger clarity change).

Gtg shouldn't be affecting clarity, it should be affecting ghosting, right? So are you talking about ghosting with IPS monitors? What does gtg do for clarity specifically independent of ghosting?

What's the explanation for this thing? http://www.testufo.com/#test=eyetracking

...Are you even spacing out the numbers logically?

I'm spacing them out by milestones. The amount of time per milestone varies.
