Have you noticed that the monitor has a purple glow on the backlight / can it be fixed by setting the color parameters differently?

Alienware has faster pixel response based on the reviews I have seen. Check rtings side by side review. The AW2721D has better numbers and the motion blur picture looks better to me subjectively. If you plan to use ULMB you should def go Acer though. And if you value the full Adobe RGB coverage that is also in favor of the Acer.spankjamer wrote: ↑02 May 2021, 06:10I could get the AW2721D for 680 vs 850 for the XB273U GX. Do you think it is worth spending the extra 170 for the Acer or should I go with the Alienware? A better response time, 100% Adobe RGB vs 85% and ULMB sound very enticing.
Currently, the ASUS PG279QM and the XG27AQM are the only 240Hz 1440p IPS monitor that don't have issues.
As I know image retention issue is connected with black boost, I turned it off and adjusted brightness and contrast. I have been using Acer xv272ux (freesync version) for several months and really happy with this panel.Boomchakadah wrote: ↑16 Aug 2021, 11:48Currently, the ASUS PG279QM and the XG27AQM are the only 240Hz 1440p IPS monitor that don't have issues.
DELL AW2721D: The slowest (the overdrive is not well-tuned).
ACER XB273UGX /ACER XV272UXB: Both were ruined by ACER's stupid decision to lock the overdrive when adaptive sync is enabled. (the overdrive needs to be turned from FAST to OFF at 150ish fps and below, but since the overdrive is locked to FAST with adaptive sync, anything below 150 has a huge amount of inverse ghosting.) Both monitors also suffer from image retention issues.
Gigabyte FI27Q-X: It uses a BGR subpixel layout that causes issues with text clarity. You could flip the monitor upside down to turn the monitor back into RGB, but that adds a lot of input lag and it causes issues with G-Sync.
So whats the best setting for competitive fps gaming? 240hz normal overdrive?Anonymous316387 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2023, 20:11Hello everyone! I currently have the XV272UX and I have seen 3 of them, one for me, one from my best friend and one from my wife.
You can ask me all the questions you want about this monitor because it uses the same panel as the Predator!
And it has the same Overdrive settings, same panel!
I did a complete review of the XV272UX but unfortunately, an opinion does not remain the same over time, we learn the faults of the screen, we try, we compare with others and we realize its problems.
[Pros]:
- Incredible colors! (despite a fairly present reddish tint even after calibration)
- In Normal Overdrive the visible overshoot rate is very minimal
- In Adaptive-Sync + V-Sync the rendering is smooth (well, not as much as a real certified G-Sync!)
- Pretty bright!
- Has BFI but...
- Has Acer Widget Display which is a pretty cool software to switch profiles (it's an additional comfort)
- 27 inches!
- 1440p!
- Versatile !
- A "good" ghosting performance
- Good performance/feel in 240hz
[ Cons ]:
- A good black equalizer
- The crosstalk in BFI is disturbing and not efficient enough, the brightness is not high enough!
- Quite dull screen (no color vibrance mode, so you have to adjust each time via Nvidia control panel)
- Much more ghosting than on some TNs (and more than on the XG2431) but "it's fine"
- Overdrive OFF and Extreme are unusable.
- SRGB mode cannot be saved as profile...tf
- The OC 270hz mode creates conflicts if you play in 1080p upscale in full screen and at times the screen can therefore show "no signal", this bug also appears if you put 10 bits in G-Sync or 10 Bits with 270hz , in short, a lot of bug!
The safest mode is 240hz, without G-Sync, in 8 bits.
- The 270hz mode does not have enough "refresh compliance" and it shows, the panel is not able to go as high, in addition I have a feeling as if the input lag is increasing, in 270hz the feeling is really good (even doing all the FPS)
- Feeling that people see me before I see them (but it's probably due to the netcode of the games I play)
In conclusion, this screen has a lot of flaws but it's simple, for me, all screens are bad and the brands do it on purpose, otherwise why would they release other products if they make the perfect product?
For me everything Zowie, TN HP OMEN, VG259QM etc are all awful with their own flaws, for me the only two "correct" monitors are the XG2431 and the XV272UX.
I've heard that on some Acer monitors you can change the overdrive with VRR. Basically, you first have to select the overdrive you want and then enable VRR and that overdrive would stick. Is that the case with your unit?Anonymous316387 wrote: ↑03 Apr 2023, 20:11Hello everyone!
