I can't reply, my messages need to be moderated....tomorrow I can test the monitor, what tests do you suggest and with which settings?
Some UFO Ghosting Test (https://www.testufo.com/ghosting) videos would probably be the best, on overdrive Level 3, 4 and 5 (with preferably 960 and 1920 pps speed options).
While the fastest TN still beats same-Hz IPS marginally, the average >240 Hz IPS can easily beat a lot of TN panels already. IPS now has the highest Hz panels on the market, and the slight extra Hz (even just 40 Hz) can obliterate any disadvantage. Especially if you're using at least a 2KHz+ poll rate mouse (Example: Razer 8KHz Viper mouse configured to 2KHz, 4KHz or 8KHz, but don't overload your specific game).jb_gade324 wrote: ↑25 Mar 2021, 19:16So the IPS models are faster than the TN? Are they usually pretty accurate with their results?

I understand all your points, and yes, in general I would suggest the IPS model but for me the TN is still better in some aspect.sk1p wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 10:09(sry, for my bad english in advance:D)
I received Vg258qm earlier and already returned it to the shop, sad news about input lag have been confirmed for me. I can play CS GO with VG279QM better(actually, still the best 240hz panel for me)

I know this review will be not so expected as many people want here cause I don't like any types of overdrives and adjust only brightness, contrast and colors. I always have some issues with overdrives in CS GO that's why I don't like it and stock mode for me the best.
I used many TN 240hz panels: XL2540, AW2518HF, LG 27GK750F, Acer xf252qx - all of them I returned to the shop cause I wasn't satisfied with input lag, for those years vg248qe was the best for me, one year ago at last I changed it to vg279qm cause I really impressed by input lag of this panel. My dream it's a panel with xf252qx response time and vg279qm input lag ))
As for my subjective opinion VG258QM has the same input lag as Acer xf252qx (I suppose it's the same panel), but actually these TN's 240hz in my experience were the best for me. (I suppose xl2540k/2546k have the same perfomance or slightly better as many like it here)
Reponse time slightly faster with vg258qm than on vg279qm, I could spot enemies faster in rare moments, but also TN's are brighter(may be that's also why).
Two more bad moments with vg258qm I had eyestrain after 2 hours of gaming in CS GO, I never had this issue with vg279qm.(probably I just need more adjust brightness on vg258qm, didn't spend much time for adjusting). Also I saw in DM sometimes inverse ghosting(if I properly understood what is it).
For me I only found one thing useful with vg258qm - in rare moments I can spot enemies slightly easier.
So in conlusion:
input lag: vg279qm > vg258qm
response time: vg258qm(slightly better) > vg279qm (in 80 OD I think clarity the same)
Colors: of course vg279qm > vg258qm
In common TN 240hz was sad sight after fast IPS 240hz and from this moment I fed up with TN 240hz and will test only 240hz IPS.
Last panel which was really imressed me after vg279qm it's new Acer XV272UX(2k, 240hz, IPS)
So I highly recommend to go for VG259QM or VG279QM.
Probably, enthusiasts who like overdrive tests would found in future some strong sides of VG258QM, but as for me it's just another xf252qx which was introduced in 2019 and actually as I remember clarity on xf252qx was better ...
Again sticked to vg279qm and will be wating second generation of 240hz IPS.
For me main aspect is input lag, I used these 240hz IPS: Acer vg252qx, Acer vg272qx, Acer xv273x, Acer xv272ux and have been using Asus vg279qm right now, any of these panels faster in that term than any TN's, in my experience xf252qx and vg258qm were the fastest from TN's and of course TN's have some strong sides, but for me become hard to return on TN after one year with vg279qm.ezbill wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 02:47I understand all your points, and yes, in general I would suggest the IPS model but for me the TN is still better in some aspect.sk1p wrote: ↑26 Mar 2021, 10:09(sry, for my bad english in advance:D)

Now, I don't have the IPS version and I am used to a VA TV, so I can't really compare. In general, color and contrast, I still prefer the VA tecnology, for gaming I will go with TN because I don't have the shitty BLB and I accept the tradeoff the viewing angles.
If I need great image, HDR performance, color and contrast, I play on my QLED.
I will try to make some videos of the VG258QM, in generale I'm impressed, colors are good and the response time is fast at 280hz. At 60hz I noticed some input lag but is not that big deal. For 290 euros I'm still convinced it's a great monitor and worth the money.
Yeah, I totally understandsk1p wrote: ↑27 Mar 2021, 03:09
