As for fortnite I think it is much more demanding in terms of image clarity than cod, I think that on fortnite a tn is required to perform well.
That’s fair to say clarity is also more important in Fortnite. However, it’s also a lot easier to get 400 FPS+, magnifying the benefits of a 390 Hz monitor in terms of responsiveness and fluidity. In game when I compared both the 390 Hz and 240 Hz TN side by side, I could not see a difference in motion blur. So I really don’t think it’s miles behind or anything like that. I mean looking at the objective figures you’re actually talking faster response times over TN in some categories and maybe 1 ms worse in others. Anyway, the Acer with backlight strobing could have the best of everything in Fortnite.
I think that having image clarity is "almost" always the most important thing among the various needs, especially in Fortnite.
Cod isn't as fussy as fortnite but having clarity isn't bad there either.
If you can play with 220 nits, the acer, with Mbr on extreme and 390hz, is the best there is for fortnite, unfortunately I can't play with 220 nits even if I close all the windows and stay in a room dark, after a while my eyes get tired.
I can only tell you what my eyes are seeing these days having the acer in comparison with Omen, who is considered one of the tn with the best response time on the market (only monitor on rtings to have taken 10 on response times).
If you keep Acer without Mbr the difference is great, the omen is clearly clearer, there is a very important difference in game, then there can be people more or less sensitive to blur but frankly if I made my mom look at the monitors (who doesn't he understands nothing) she would notice it too.
By activating Mbr to the maximum on Acer the difference is greatly reduced, I would say that at that point they are comparable but back to the starting point, I can't play with 220 nits, especially on cod.
However I am not saying that acer should be abandoned, if you are willing to accept a bit of blur (for those like me who use it without mbr), it has several advantages over Omen, it is more snappy, responsive and has very little tearing, the image is very fluid.
I think when the 360hz TNs come out everyone will go there.
Ps I did the tests you indicated (without Mbr) and I have not noticed practically any difference between Omen and Acer, both set at 240hz of course.

thanks for your thoughts.
There is very good talk of 2k 270 as asus and acer, I'm curious to try one of these but it's the size that holds me back, I have a lg 27gn850 (2k 144hz) and it's really hard for me to be fast with my eyes on 27 inch.
But I don't understand how it is possible that these 2k have less motion blur than ips 1080, really strange.
According to this review, 2k IPS's panels are faster with default overdrive than current 1080 IPS's, percentage transition within refresh window 77-90% and I don't see any overshoot with xv272ux normal overdrive:
https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_alienware_aw2721d
Also 2k gives additional sharpness to image, so at the output a near perfect image(as for me after the tons of 240hz 1080 panels)
I had been using vg279qm before for one year and it was slower and no so sharp(of course as it has 27 with 1080), but had perfect input lag.
I think 2k is the perfect resolution today to play and have feast for the eyes, especially if you want to play a bit of everything, certainly better than full hd.
The "problem" I have with 2k when I go to use them on a shooter, is not so much the response times or the input lag, but the dimensions, for me 27 is really gigantic, I have to move it to the back of my desk and I would like to move it away again but I have no more space, this is the only limit for me.
If they did a 24 inch 2k I would switch to that immediately.
