NVIDIA G-Sync Pulsar monitor - Asus ROG Strix XG27AQNGV

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, ToastyX, black frame insertion (BFI), and now framerate-based motion blur reduction (framegen / LSS / etc).

Can make the custom resolution at 72 and 96hz but Pulsar and ULMB2 is disabled
That's a shame... so it's locked to specific refresh rate targets...
Which I assume are 60, 120, 144, 240 & 360?
ULMB2 is available at 60, 120, 240 and 360.

60hz is perfect for consoles, any other fixed rate your better off just leaving it on Pulsar mode imo.

I need help. I had G-sync working before updating my monitor but now a single game is not working with G-sync: Marathon. I had this issue before when I first got the monitor but it magically fixed itself.

I have noticed when I use intel presentmon to view the present mode it immediately breaks the independent flip on my game and the G-sync indicator disappears on the top right and the game lists as composed flip. This didn't happen before the firmware update, but I believe maybe it is something else on my computer. What else is happening is the overlay is no longer auto-targeting when I boot up any game, I have to specifically target the process.

Any ideas how to fix? Could it be my monitor?

Just updated my monitor! these are the full patchnotes when you go to update
[...]
- Added 60 FPS ULMB mode with adjustable duty cycle.
- Added 120 FPS Pulsar mode.
What do they mean with 120 FPS Pulsar mode? When I switch my refresh rate to 120 Hz on windows via nvcp after firmware upgrade, I still just have the ULMB2 option on my monitor (ASUS). Pulsar is only available with 240 and 360 Hz.

My monitor shows the same behavior, not sure what they meant.

...BUT ULMB 60 hz > ULMB 120 feels really bad lol I really hope they keep updating this monitor with more updates to allow for ULMB 120 at the same motion clarity as 60 hz because that REALLY looked clear and 120 ULMB looks LESS clear than 60 hz ULMB which is nuts.
That's a extremely concerning claim to read, which would imply that they've only allowed for a low duty cycle experience for the 60Hz refresh rate....
It would be hillarious if this is true.
Yea it's true lmao. 60hz with low pulse width is the only truly clear mode where it feels like your literal eyes would be the bottleneck before the monitor's. I've also noticed that the 60hz mode is also the only mode to not use the rolling scan, or at least not in a way that I can detect. I can't notice any scan out skew and the screen doesn't have that wobbly effect when you flick your eyes around like with a CRT. Pointing a camera at the screen with a really fast shutter speed seems to confirm that. As soon as you go to 120hz or higher regardless of ulmb or pulsar selected it uses the rolling backlight.

Yeah 60hz ULMB2 mode looks insanely clear at 10 Pulse Width, like it cant possibly get any clearer, pixel perfect.

With the hz at 120, 240 and 360 its not as clear at 10 pulse width.

There's genuinely no way they've only allowed good tuning for ULMB on the 60Hz refresh rate setting....
I refuse to believe such levels of little care was put into making the FW update good...
There's no way only the 60Hz mode is a global scan solution, when the display has the ability to use rolling scan...
Someone pinch me, this has to be a nightmare? :D

Do you say this because of the brightness? The motion clarity uplift is the same? Or..
Well the good news kyube is they have shown they can do both haven't they? Lol.

UFO at 1920 px/s

Edit: my camera doesn't have an option for 1/15 shutter speed, using Procam on an iphone 15. So the 60Hz one is not very useful. But it's incredibly clear, much more than the other refresh rates.

Its simpler setup to have the VRR mode with good clarity, consistent and higher brightness with no noticeable flicker.

60hz mode you can make the motion better than Pulsar but your sacrificing brightness and adding noticeable flicker.
